Light on in car if it's nighttime

I’ve never thought about rolling down all the windows or putting keys on the dash but I do keep hands in view on the steering wheel.

I'm not a fan of tint on dark colors. I'd leave it.

I've been telling myself everytime I get a new car that I will tint but never get around to it. Last car I had tinted was in 1998. The nice thing about BMWs with BMW ConntectDrive is you can remotely vent the car to cool it off a bit before getting in.

I guess, but I've never found any of that even remotely necessary.

Different parts of the country maybe?

Your race/ethnicity also factors in.

True, but the car also has to factor in as well.

A tinted late model M3 is different than a tinted 95 civic.

The car definitely factors into the equation.

Knock on wood. I have no front plate and the cops leave me alone.

Not so sure they would leave me alone in a 95 civic that sounded like a trash can

+1. This is my exact sequence. Additionally, before grabbing my license/reg./insurance, I'll tell the officer where it's located and that I am going to reach for it.

Courtesy goes a long way. Cops pull over a fair amount of idiots on a daily basis so proper etiquette certainly is noticed. It's important to make them feel at ease and comfortable.

And then you watch COPS and you see people leave their radio on and keep smoking their cigarette while pulled over. Hahah. But then again, those are the Grade A idiots

My better half squashed this for me. My 22yr self drove a tinted Lexus. She asked me a simple question related to how we lived then. It was a trump card. Needless to say, no tint for me. Sucks getting old but sometimes your perspective changes.

True but as you get older you can just get lighter tint.

Very few cars look good with dark paint and dark tint, in two ways:

1 - The lack of contrast blurs the dimensions/shape of the actual car so it ends up looking like a big black blob, and
2 - Makes the car look cheaper (Nissan Altima, much?)

For a black car, 50% is the darkest I would go - that's plenty dark especially with a black interior. But no tint is ultra classy/clean.

Oh, and age directly correlates with tastes - as you get older you get more conservative. Dark tint is not conservative. Not passing judgment - just presenting a real world perspective from a 42 year old who's become considerably more conservative relative to his 20s.

I have 35% ceramic on my car to keep out the heat while keeping the car looking classy. I used to have 20% tint in my 20s and that's too dark for me now that I am 30s. Once I hit 50, I will tint 50%. I tint according to my age. lol

I have not done tint in a long time on a lot of cars. not bc I don't want to but bc I live in a small town and when I use to put tint on I would get pulled over and really couldn't hide so I was over it. but I do like the light tint look all the way around. I think it looks a little off when you tint the back windows really dark and the rest of the window have no tint. but thats just me!

No accounting for taste, but I love my 35% tint on my MGM F80, and I'm in my 50s.
