BMW is definitely trying to control the narrative and silence naysayers. Cancel culture is real for good or bad, its here.

Correction. Euro E36 M3s came 286 ps 5MT for early gen and 6MT &6-speed SMG I starting 1996 with 321hp S50B32 engine.
Only US M3s got a 5MT& 5 speed traditional torque converter with 240bhp, which is why I call them E36 330is..

This - I've heard from people who've seen it in person and from sounds of it:

(1.) the actual "like" rate among reviews is under 20% - Most positive reviews (or lack of negative feedback) is due to financial pressure (either access, advertising or both)

(2.) It's jawdroppingly ugly for most and not in the oh-look-that's-kinda-ass way, but in the OMG-what-the-fuck-is-that way. So people are stopped silent, at least westerners are.

It's such a risk to BMW's ///M3/4 brand! They're risking the brand becoming synonymous with "ugly" - most normals don't know what an M3 is, but if they see this monstrosity prowling around, ask what-in-the-actual-fuck-is-that?? and the answer is "an M3" ... how long before the normals start equating M3 and ugly?

In any event, I'm still trying to figure out if BMW focus groups in China loved the thing and that's why BMW is going this way: calculated move to ignore Western markets and focus 100% on China?

I get the feeling that the mods at BMW should know very well, them controlling the narrative here won't stop the criticism on social media.

In fact, social media has a bigger platform than us here at BP regardless of the fact that we are the biggest BMW forum on the net.

Before any G8x people come here and try to tell me the car looks good in Black, Grey or White. EVERY CAR LOOKS GOOD IN THOSE COLORS. That doesn't mean jack in the grand scheme of things. You don't give a company, a straight blank check for crapping all over 40 years of history. Especially on a icon like the M3. They can do what they want to the M4, don't touch the M3.

Its really sad. Overall the M3 always looked great. This generation could change that as someone pointed out above.

That said this kid of shit happens in life. Other generations will increase in value.

This forum is a about discussing BMWs. When BMW releases a new car as iconic as the M3 there is going to be dissuasions. Good, bad indifferent it should be free to discuss. No one is getting attacked or insulted aside from BMW and they put themselves out there.

If they shut this thread and discussion down that will probably be it for me and this forum. Sad to see the political section go but I can understand this is a car forum. If they start to delete discussions about cars just because it doesn't fit a narrative then it's no place for me.

I don't get why someone on this forum would take offence to people calling a car ugly. They had no participation in its development so why would they care?

Probably because the owner thinks it benefit financially from it. Either by getting a cut from BMW or the perception of driving more traffic to the site.

This might actually work with that hideous front end!
If only THIS was the new M4: mid engine, 500lbs LIGHTER, kept the DCT, and options for 6 speed on every model.

Is there actual proof that BMW themselves are removing comments or have a hand in this? If so, it's more than the styling of G80/G82...I no longer want to be part of a brand who is unwilling to listen to criticism (especially from its most passionate fans).

I was thinking about jumping into a M2 or M5 after owning the CS a little while longer...but not so sure anymore...

Porsche is an excellent place to send your money to at the moment if you want something rewarding and RWD manual or PDK. Just did it last month. I can easily ignore what BMW has turned into over this past 5.5 years.

I didn't believe those that said P-cars were a level up from BMW, but they completely are. Still appreciate the F80 but I'm on the sidelines now watching what BMW does...maybe will be back for something electric someday...feel like this moment is similar to when the muscle cars went away for my dad in the 70s, we're now past the inflection point.

And just had a couple more posts deleted on G80...

Mentioned that I feel:

Are promoting violence, suicide, bullying, cultural and racial tension, fire, butt cracks, alcoholism, putting down others, and well...quite frankly, boobies. For lack of a better description coming from a fecopheliac...

Way more offensive than what most have said about the new car and had their posts deleted. Jason deleted my posts, clear this is coming from BMW damage control center (or significantly funds it and they shaping the message so to speak)...but I guess China does require quite a bit of censorship on the web, something BMW seems to be getting better at.

Jason is quick over there which makes me wonder how they are deleting them so quick? Is there some automation involved that checks usernames for posts in that forum? I mean my post about the 2 biggest BMW dick riders was deleted in seconds after I posted it.

No I posted something and it was gone in 2 minutes with a reply from Jason quoting someone reinforcing a positive about the new car and post locked. Whatever, not my (our) monkeys, not my (our) circus...

Yep. I'm in the same boat. If BMW wants censorship like is occurring in these forums, that's enough for me to move onto another brand.

I've been a loyal BMW fan/owner for a while now and to be treated like this pisses me off.
