Where is the cheapest place to buy these? This is the cheapest I've found at $135:

Looking good. It's low on my priority list since my silver emblems are fine, but eventually I'll just replace with the black ones. They're much better looking.

The dealer variability on this is really, really, dumb.

One dealer told me it was wear and tear and priced out the emblems

I have a '17 F80 with the silver emblem. They're not cracked, but they're buzzing and needed to be replaced.

When I went to the dealership, they told me that replacements can only be for the same exact part.

I politely informed them that BMW has authorized the replacement of the silver ones for the black ones and they should either contact BMW or I will need to go to another dealer.

They contacted BMW and BMW authorized quite quickly!

So, the moral of the story is (1) find a dealer that is at least willing to ask BMW; and (2) BMW will authorize this swap if the silver ones are needing of replacement.

You'd think if BMW introduced the black emblems on the '18s because the silver emblems are susceptible to cracking that when a '15 - '17 came in for this they'd always update them to the black.
They say once you go black you never go back.

I filed a case with BMWNA while my car was in the shop and they said no to the black upgrade and gave me silver.

Hmmm, odd.

Did you file it yourself or did your dealer in your behalf?

So funny thing that happened to me. I have a 17' M4 F83. I got a flat tire back in Feb 2021 and was able to get it replaced under the tire warranty I purchased through my local dealership, BMW of Manhattan. I asked about them replacing my cracked seat badges and they told me something ridiculous about having to go to the original BMW dealership that I purchased the car in (2 hours away from NYC) because they're the only ones allowed to replace that part. I didn't do that. I kinda shrugged it off and just decided to check back on this today because the cracks have gotten a lot worse.

I reached out to another dealership in NY and got a rep that was willing to help me. He asked about my previous visit and said it should have been covered 100% under new car warranty. Come to find out I actually had new car warranty until end of March 2021! How ridiculous is this!? He said he will try and plead my case as I did mention it and it is written down on the invoice. I sent over pics of invoice and pics of cracked badges, good thing I saved the invoice. I also requested the black badges.

Crossing my fingers now hoping they are able to swap them. I'll updated with the outcome.

Apologies, I forgot to update my post. Got them replaced under new car warranty (even thought it was expired) and they were able to give me the black ones.

Bringing back an older thread but I need to replace mine as well and the car is out of warranty.. I have exactly the same seats as the last post.. I have found some DIY's on the regular seats but not these. Anyone know if I can simply pull the badge out and replace it without taking apart the seats themselves?

Thank you!

I would imagine the process is/should be the same. I would not attempt to yank from the front unless you are confident. Last thing you want are ripped seats.
