Legality of catless downpipes in AU/NSW

hello,
I just got a 2015 m4 and started looking at mods to do.

Given theres two series of cats in the m4, is it still technically illegal to run a catless downpipe in NSW?

Anyone had any issues with EPA?

Would you be fined in the same way as not running any cats in the exhaust?

Also does this forum organise track days in/near Sydney?

Thanks

In SA, checking for cats or testing their efficiency roadside isn't common. Sometimes a cop can poke his head under a car that's overly loud and if he can see a cat, it's all good. You could always run catless downpipes and turn the secondary cats into resonators and the car looks compliant. I don't think you'd have an issue because you can't see the downpipes properly in the clutter, particularly if they weren't familiar with the model. Technically it's illegal to remove cats but the F8x is one of the better exhaust layouts to modify without detection.

Yeah still illegal. All it takes for an EPA test notice is complaints, doesn't have to be a cop specifically finding you/randomly testing you.

Been running catless myself for 2 years. Just get an exhaust setup with valves so you can be quiet when needed, and loud when youre in the clear.

Always a gamble. Had plenty of mates with complaints forced to chuck the stock cats back in for EPA tests, as well as plenty (like myself) thats gone unnoticed. All down to how obnoxious you're gonna be and how tolerant your neighbours are. Do yourself (and others) a favour and get a tune to disable the cold start once you go catless.
