Lava gray is an Audi color. There are several BMW Individual colors that are copies of other manufacturer's colors. M

OP I take it you took the pics? Does it have a metallic flake to the color? can't tell in the pics, if so what is the hue of the gray in the sun?

To me it looks black. Waste of Individual color (which usually cost extra).

So basically grey in sunlight and black in dim lit areas? I'm guessing

Still a waste tho

I've seen Lava Grey in person. I was waiting a couple of month and finally seen it. What a disappointment and waste. In the light (artificial and sunlight) it looks brown. ... I could ask my friend to send pictures of his car.

I believe the pics are of a 435 M performance edition, that is yet to receive its M performance parts. I ordered the same car, color, (but with red seats- cant tell if it has them) and saw it like that before they installed the M performance parts. In 2015 BMW Canada had 2 or 3 runs of M performance editions for 235, 335, and 435. They were available in two regular colors for that car and two individual colors. There really isnt much of a price difference between a loaded 435 and a M performance edition. (but the m performance edition is loaded plus you get the extras I mention below including the individual paint color)

When I first saw my car in the showroom as it is in the pic, I instantly regretted my decision. It did look sort of brown in the showroom and while it was a very unique color I didn't like it.

Then they installed the 20" black 624m rims, carbon fiber lip/spoiler and exhaust covers, rear diffuser, black kidney grills, and side skirts - and it was like "whoa this really looks amazing." Works so well with the paint color now imo. Lava grey has a red pigment in it and it seems to go really well with the Coral Red interior. A lot of times I walk up to it and seriously think wow I'm so glad I chose this color (as I was divided between mineral grey and black saphire)

While I thought it looked brown initially, obviously some of you agree, no one in person has every guessed it's brown. Half the people that talk to me about the car ask what color it is. I always say - guess. They have never guessed brown always grey or black.

I parked it next to a mineral grey 428 gran coupe and it was really cool to see the dif in colors. I took a few pics so I can post if you are still interested.
