BM3 tune failed
Hi, I was attempting to tune my M4 last night, but it wouldn't flash and upon pressing flash, the car would skip thru to clearing codes. I tried it on both my laptop and iPhone, but that didn't make a difference. I cycled the ignition 3x as well. The car still turns on normally and drives, but just won't flash. BM3 was working flawlessly these past 3 months, but stumbled across some problems last night. I have contacted PTF support, but want to ask here as well if there are any solutions. Thank you

If you took your car to the dealership lately, they might have updated your ECU which made it locked.
Either way, please let us know what PTF says

#1. Your battery is not charged enough. A battery charger is a must 20-50amps. #2. You have a faulty OBD2 Ethernet cable or an adapter. #3. You have something blocking the flash. Ex: installed a piggyback, alarm system, exhaust flaps controller, GPS system etc. So, I ordered a new ENET cable and a battery charger, hopefully that will work |

If not, check to make sure no issues with your physical connection to the OBD port. I ran into a "sudden" issue with multiple flash failures a few weeks ago and started panicking (had just topped off with 93 because no E85 stations in the area where I was visiting, so stuck at this station late in the evening thinking I was hosed an unable to flash from the E85 tune to the 93 map). Checked the OBD plug and found that a tiny piece of felt (used to make sure the plug wedges tightly onto the OBD port) had slipped and kept the pins from fully seating. Removed that and everything good to go. I've also had failure events that were resolved by various other means - hard reset of phone; force closing BM3 app or deleting altogether and re-installing the app; ensuring all connections were turned off except for the method used to connect to the car (Bluetooth and wifi off, etc). Ultimately (and in the absence of recent software updates), it's going to be a step-by-step process eliminating failure points until you find the culprit.

Something is blocking, hopefully PTF will be able to figure it out once they're able to log in.

Possibility are battery is not at the correct voltage, DME is locked, or a module has a bad error and you need to update your Istep things to clear it out.

Hey guys I loaded my bm3 f80 Paul e85 map for the first time today. The car drives fine low rpm once I try pulling it the car won't go over 3000rpm and misfires. I just did crankhub exhaust intakes and chargepipes today too. Car was running fine on ots 93 map. [IMG][/IMG]

You should start your own thread if you want more people to see your issue. But to answer your question, how many miles did you drive on the tune before doing pulls? You need to drive the car for a bit to give the DME some time to adapt to the tune. Same thing happened to me. Just reflash and put like 50 miles on the car before doing a pull. That should give it time to adapt

Yeah I charged my battery today, didn't work with that either, and Ptf reset my BM3 account to check it out. They're gonna diagnose my car tomorrow now

Awesome news man! I'm sure that was a major stress. I think this is one of the many reasons a lot of us run BM3. Not just because of the tune, but because if something does unfortunately go wrong such as this, they seem to pull through and help out.

Same issue here....
Had to use Esys to flash back to stock. Only way to get Esys to flash was to uncheck the flash counter as it would error in the same fashion as BM3. The prior flash, something wasn't right. O2 sensor railed, weird zero boost conditions, lower torque request, etc. I only drove it 10 miles before parking. Had a nice 50k paper weight for 3 weeks trying to get 100gigs of pszdata downloaded to unbrick the ECU. My tuner was AMAZING in helping me. He stuck with me for HOURS and HOURS to try and fix this. ISTA would read some flexray error in the DSC module. Car would lock the fuel pump in transport mode, etc after the failed attempt. Super weird. I did nothing on the flash that failed different, same phone, cable etc. Before reflashing w/ Esys, we tried 2 different computer, firewall settings etc. Every option was tried with force flash, dme lock, stock tune, customroms, etc, all failed.
