Very nice car, gmorton. Happened to be scrolling through the pages and saw you are local to Lexington. Just to cut to the chase I am not in the market for this particular car, but thought I might be able to offer some advice since I was in this exact same situation 2.5 years ago.
Wife was driving a 2015 M235i at the time which I had done a bunch of mods to and just couldn't fall in love with. I had e92 M3 which I loved, but made mistake of test driving 991S. Needless to say I had to have one! Both cars were lease at time, and M3 wasn't going anywhere, so M235i had to go. It was a 10k mile lease with about 12k already a year in, however it did have about $6k in mods (wheels with summer tires, Mperf exhaust, and other quality bits), and had a very good payment that I'd worked hard to get. I listed it up here for takeover with the mods as a free incentive that came with the car (along with all OEM parts including wheels with all season tires) and basically it was just a huge waste of time and I got 100000000 that were "interested" but nothing even remotely close to a realistic offer. Unfortunately it is already difficult to sell a car like this, add in that this is a lease which is probably even more difficult, then add in our location where these cars aren't very popular, and you may find that you are better off going another route. I found the perfect 991 for me after having the car listed for months and months with no real action. Car was pretty much brand new with just barely 4k miles and absolutely perfect spec. I ended up trading in the M235i to the dealer and taking a $7-8k hit on that deal. I basically paid the M235i lease off, put a few more $$ down for the 911, and that was it. Fast forward 2.5 years and now I have $25-30k in positive equity in my 991 AND I have been getting to enjoy her for over two years. Long story short you might find it best to just bite the bullet and trade this car in. If you don't and continue trying to lease swap, you could find yourself in a position 6 months later where you look at the depreciation on the M4 plus the incentive offered and realize that you have paid more than you would just to trade it in the first place! And we all know the "smart thing" to do is wait it out, but if you're like me once the idea is in your head it torments you until you finally have the car you want, and it's hard to put a dollar value on happiness in this short life of ours.

Thanks, Db750. Great to hear from someone local that understands my position! I am very close to doing exactly what you’re describing. I have found a couple of great GT4 examples with which the dealers are willing to work with me on the trade-in.
On another note: will you be attending Keeneland Concours d’Elegance this weekend? If so, would be cool to connect. At any rate, thanks again. See you around! Quote:
