I love this nice timeline of Trump quotes:
Jan. 22: "It's going to be just fine. We have it totally under control." Jan. 24: "It will all work out well." Jan. 30: "We think we have it very well under control." Feb. 7: "… as the weather starts to warm & the virus hopefully becomes weaker, and then gone." Feb. 10: "I think the virus is going to be -- it's going to be fine." Feb. 14: "... we’re in very good shape." Feb. 19: "I think it's going to work out fine." Feb. 24: "The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA." Feb. 25: "You may ask about the coronavirus, which is very well under control in our country. We have very few people with it ..." Feb. 28: "I think it's really going well." Feb. 28: "It's going to disappear. One day, it's like a miracle, it will disappear." Feb. 28: "This is their new hoax." March 4: "Some people will have this at a very light level and won't even go to a doctor or hospital, and they'll get better." March 10: "... it will go away. Just stay calm. It will go away." March 11: "I think we're going to get through it very well." March 12: "It's going to go away. ... The United States, because of what I did and what the administration did with China, we have 32 deaths at this point..." March 15: "This is a very contagious virus. It's incredible. But it's something that we have tremendous control over." March 16: "If you're talking about the virus, no, that's not under control for any place in the world." March 17: "I've always known this is a, this is a real, this is a pandemic … I've felt that it was a pandemic long before it was called a pandemic." And then there's Kamala Harris asking on Feb 12th why nobody from Homeland Security is available to brief the Senate on Coronavirus:

I think this is the most important tweet thread I've ever read, and here's the TLDR:
Suppression = #StayHome for at least 18 months, mask & gloves if you go out - we're living like this until a vaccine If not, millions will die - like more people than in all wars combined. If so, it'll seem like we're doing it all for nothing due to no deaths.

I had tried to plan some stuff for my mother next month but it looks like that probably won't happen. Have to now figure out what I can do about it.

on the one hand I"m outraged, on the other, 50% of Americans are suckers willing to pay anything to Trumpublicans who'll validate their pre-determined narrative - they especially love it when their reps lie right to their face ... I just wish we didn't have to pay too.
Soon after he offered public assurances that the government was ready to battle coronavirus, Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr sold off between $582,029 and $1.56 million of his holdings on Feb. 13 in 29 separate transactions.

Trump is also going about it all wrong (big ass surprise there).
Paying Americans directly means very little in the grand scheme of things. If he was actually helping the businesses and companies that are reeling from this, into keeping their employees instead we be better off. But nope. Sending everyone 1k is better apparently.

Oh I completely forgot to reply about the stock stuff. It would be a long term investing thing or at least long enough. To gain some $$ and perhaps withdraw a little if I need some funds. I figured Apple is one of the safer long term ones. Don't really trust how wacky Tesla is.

Right now the market's crazy .... and that's the problem with single stock investing, even with someone like apple, an exogenous event can wipe you out vs with an index fund you're as diversified as you can be. |

I'm home schooling 4 kids and I'm the shopper for... 17 people.
So the day goes like this: I wake up at three am. 0300. Since I smoke again apparently I go for one, go back to bed and hope for an other hour of sleep. It never comes. 4 am I go make coffee. That's when I answer the 300 emails I get from the teachers and the school nurses and the fucking everyone on the planet that are connected with my kids education. 0500 is strictly newspaper and coffee hour. 0600 husband tries to get killed since he thinks he can walk up to the livingroom while I'm studying the shit I need to teach the kids that day and sound happy when he says hood morning! Fucking fucking fuck. 0615 he goes to run 20k. That's why he breaths. 0630 i normally think i have some sort of comprehension on what the fuck the kids are learning that day. Let me remind you that this is week two of home schooling here. Also, I seem to have a hard time realizing this at the early hours but i ain't very smart before 9 am or so. Let's skip the laundry, breakfast and let's go ahead and talk about my today from the second on the kids got their assignments and what happened then. They send out all the assignments for the week here, then they do some meeting shit lessons the kids listen in on and so on. They release the whole week at 8 am so that the parents can ask questions and when the kids start working on it all, us parents can go through the material for the week. 1 pm "Mom, I'm done. I'm going to go and bike to the cabin (60 km away)". "Sorry, you're done with what, cabin, who?" "I did all the school work for the week and I have a phone and a laptop with me and I'm sick of the city so I'm going fishing to the summer cabin for the rest of the week". My answer was not that shes 13 and she should stay home. I just checked how many computers instead of supplies she packed. Ah hell, it's a 30 minute drive. Let her be. This whole thing happened with every fucking kid. The rest didnt run away but they finished their homework, their teachers gave them more, they did those too and then the teachers start calling me to complain that those things were for a week. When I say that their guidelines demand at least 4 hours of school work per day and they do it all in that, I can't be blamed. "You have to understand that yours will be too far ahead when normal school restarts." "No, they get new books for dojn the work well, and they get new projects for being serious about school. If they end up with a 3 hour school work, that's not my problem. My problem is the 77 hours I have to entertain them, and then comes the 32 for a weekend." Libraries are not open so I'm basically hauling books from the storage so fucking fast right now, someone here is about to be hit with the 1920's chicken raising guide book "from an egg to the plate" in the face with. And then there is this shopping thing. I go once a week. Since I live near old people, I shop for them too. The complaining is unreal. "You didn't buy the right kind of butter (sorry, that was the only thing your list of allergies allowed since the one you usually use was sold out in three shops) , the meat was not from the counter, this was not store cut. The pasta you brought was the wrong shape, I only yeat the swirly ones. You forgot the potatoes (do not fucking fuck with me on this, finland ran out, the shops ran out for 2 days)." Finally i told them all to suck it, took about a week and a half. They told me they're going to complain to my superior and that they're going to call my mom since those whiny fucks are all related to me. The funny part is that they all (millionaires all) seem to think me helping them was some government program. They weren't even paying for the shit, I was. I'm so done. My mom can just keep on calling me. So back to the daily schedule. Since I'm home schooling apparently 3 hours per week and then listening to teachers bitching about my kids doing the work too fast, we now have our own school going on. The boys are checking the English homework of the older girls, the girls are teaching computer science to the boys, home econ and investment portfolio management is taught by me and avoiding neighbors is done by all. I fall asleep around midnight. Oh, and all screen time limitations have been erased here. After the school work and the daily family extra activities (at times we his 9.30 from tuesday on) are done, they basically can download any games, teach seven year olds how to code, hack shit or study weird stuff online for as long as none of them speak to me before the lunch hour. What was the question?

Had a teachers parade here, the local elementary school teachers names and grades on posters taped to the side of their cars. The kids all came out and waved back (our neighborhood probably has three kids per household). It was really cute, gave me a big smile.
I was smart and stocked up on antibacterial wipes early, but I'm almost out, I can't find anymore. And we are down to 35 rolls of TP. WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO!!!!!!! |
