Now, the question is going to be, can a regular driver keep it in that range when shifting manually? |

Hope the mags will get ahold of a manual car. Do the newest AWD Ms now start in 2nd gear? And display the next gear a second before the car actually shifts?

Apropos of nothing - and I'm not condoning it - but in college I witnessed "Chowder night" - basically the players all threw $20 into a hat, went to parties, and whoever bedded the largest lady won the pool.
Inevitably this resulted in a few longer term romances because, well, straight line speed wins out over absolute looks sometimes ... It was my observation that 0% of these couplings lasted longer than a few weeks ... In any event, I wonder what the used car market is going to look like in 2 years? And teen auto deaths from low-priced, used, HP ICE? |

AM&S got a dog for their M4cs test as it was consistently slower than other EU tests I have seen, in the article they blamed it on hot/humid weather. For instance, Autobild clocked their M4cs at 12.3 0-200km/h. 11.4 for the G8XC is quite impressive and is much faster than what BMW claims.

CanAutM3 you should like this one. Looks like Throttle House was able to take their M4 press car onto their track. Guess the weather in Canada was decent over the last week.

I drove it and it is, without a doubt, a fast car. Whether it's as fast as that video makes it out to be I guess we will find out tomorrow.

Had some free time before dinner last night so I took an impromptu trip to the dealer to check out their G80. For me, it barely looks a little better in person. All the sales guys just kept saying, it takes some getting used to. NEVER heard anyone say that for the E46, E92, or F8X. So let's get that out of the way. If you have to get used to it, they did a bad job. This reminded me of how I felt with the E60 M5. I got used to it b/c I really loved the screaming V10. In the end, it wasn't enough for me to want to keep around to admire or drive. I sold it immediately when I saw the F80 launch pics performance/technical reviews.
The interior is definitely an improvement over our F8x. Even more so if you have the pre-2018 dash. The new materials and overall look/feel is much more luxurious feeling. Baby M5 would be the appropriate theme here. Door cards are definitely an upgrade. Overall this is the only thing I like about the new car. The SPY/blue interior color is The CF seats are a pain to get in and out of. I would not order these unless this was my dedicated track toy or I plan to track frequently. Everyday use is not ideal and if you have a lady passenger, they are going to hate it too. The nutcracker hump isn't as bad as I thought. The very high thigh bolsters well get demolished if proper ingress/egress is not practiced. I find this harder to deal with than ingress/egress in the i8. Overall, its a large car on the outside. The inside did not feel much larger than our F80s. The black lower trim on the outside will show dirt/dust/water spotting very easily. Just from the dealer prep wash, I see water drip marks on the rockers panels at the joints of the doors. Its also going to show kick marks from shoes especially if you plan to have passengers and/or kids. What were they thinking with this design? Side profile is a mess in person. If you stand at the rear door, you see lines that start and end in the middle of nowhere. This is just some sort of rookie car designer mistake. Can't really explain how it would be perceived as looking good. The fake vent in the front fender makes little sense. Why bother??? Its not functional yet there is a place where they could have done a real vent with greater effect, like on the GTR's vent. Side mirrors look like an afterthought or hastily designed. Its just a big rectangle from the outside. Its probably best that they are not body colored as they lack any dynamism. Rear bumper protrudes in a odd way. It looks a rump on an overweight person. The exhaust tips look better than our F8x and are inline with ones similar to the GTR. Its an improvement there but not a huge improvement. Overall, the rear is probably the best angle of the car which is pretty sad. Here are some quick pics I took for your "enjoyment" Last edited by MFNATIK; 03-08-2021 at 05:39 PM.. |

Another poll in the G8X section this time based on opinion after seeing it in person, of course blocked on desktop, but on the BP mobile app, even us banned members can vote. I did my part and said no.

Sadly they didn't get the wheels to match. IMO, if you're gonna put the color of the car and the correctly optioned wheels, you should get the color right too. Its a sad reminder that you drive something only about 20% of people think look good.

To start, obviously to each his own. Everyone has their own taste and personal preference.
With that said, I'm just not a fan of the exterior aesthetic of the M3. Just makes me appreciate my F80 and other older generation M3s for that matter. I'm clearly NOT BMW's target customer (for the M3) with their new, aggressive/out of the box design.. (though the interior has great potential when you spec it nicely) I just find it funny and interesting that ever since photos of the G8x came out, a lot of people have said, "it'll grow on you..." or "you'll get used to it..." In my humble opinion, you don't spend over $80K (sans someone who has a lot of disposable income) on a car with the hopes of eventually "getting used to it." More often than not, when an enthusiast buys a car, it's an emotional purchase. It's either you love it or you don't. No in-betweens. But hey, the performance seems promising... After all, if you can't have both, some people prefer personality over looks
