Just an update. I have been running this setup for a couple months now and have not had a single issue. No coding, just install the negative IBS cable and the battery itself.

BUT I will say I do not drive my car in the winter.

IBS cable part number: BMW 61219117877
Braille G30 lithium battery

Trying an AGM

I bought an IBS from Hella online from Amazon.
I am going to try a Braille AGM B7548. https://braillebattery.com/products/...31acc932&_ss=r
However, I was told by a tech here that the battery wouldn't match and registration doesn't change the battery type so the car would cause the battery to prematurely drain.
I'm a bit worried about all this.

Techs don't have the ability to think outside the box and don't have access to the same programming resources we do. You'll be fine 👍

Do you think if i use the IBS cable part number: BMW 61219117877
+ AGM Battery 70AH 760A there will be an issue? Its similar spec to Lio-ion OEM ?

Please advise. Thank you!

Peter_2jz Did you try that? did it work?
I bought a charger that will wake up a Lithium battery and charge them. Its from CTEK. It has 7 LEDs - it got to the test LED and then started blinking on mine (basically says that the battery won't take a charge).

At this point, I'm really trying to figure out alternatives. Our battery stock says

770A
69AH
860 CCA

Now my question is - how does one read these specs. Maybe I'm cynical but I really wonder about the 69AH.

Options: Braille i48CX - as noted -
25 AH
but, right below that it says 75 LAH (Lithium Equivalent to Lead Acid Amp Hours). So I'm wondering if stock quote of 69AH is actually LAH

Link: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-braille-...ide&utm_term=1

---
Another option: AntiGravity group 48

https://antigravitybatteries.com/pro...tive/ag-h6-rs/

It can be spec'd out with 60AH which seems close. Price is much cheaper than all these alternatives.

---

On the other hand, this site shows the stock battery at only about $150 more - considering how much these are, maybe its worth just getting that. https://www.bmwpartsdeal.com/parts-l...m/battery.html

Hello , i have just today 23.08 received my charger ,revived my battery using noco 10 genius
i will write a full post soon on how i did it.

I will also write a quick guide here

What i did was dis-asamble battery out of tray and hooked up charger directly to cells bypasing module, after they were charged 14v it still woud not unlock module, so i gave it force charge for 5 mins 20v it unlocked module and battery was saved!

Write me in my DM's i can call you via facetime and explain it to you

I decided to go with this: https://europeanautosource.com/antig...f8x-m3-m4.html

I spoke to EAS - they said someone there has an M4 and used this battery. Note that it actually includes the IBS which is cool (I had previously bought one so if I don't need that, I'll have an extra if anyone wants to get from me).

I ordered and it comes in next week. I won't be able to put in the car until that weekend so here's to "fingers crossed"!. I am really hopeful this works. total with shipping was $1034. Thats much cheaper than the BMW stock battery (who knows what brand) and even Braille.

Just need to register with Carly - hopefully that works too.

How did you tied town the battery? Is the battery moving at all?
Also are you a little concern with the lack of BMS from the Braille battery?

I am thinking the same set up, any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

You can put a group 48 AGM in it. Just make sure to code it accordingly and use the different battery cable. It works.

That said, I purchased the antigravity one in their labor day sale and am now using that one.

Thanks,
I fabricated a tie down.

The lack of BMS?

Peter how far did you dissemble your battery? My car has been flagging the replace battery fault since it discharged when I was away for an extended holiday. The dash cams installed by a previous owner didn't have the battery protection facility set up and I think that's what killed the battery.

After reading your post I thought I would give the repair a go but got this far and got a little nervous.

20V directly to the cells or to the battery connectors?

I have charged cells, there is 14V, but isolatong switch is still open and there is 0V on connectors.

I don't want to burn the battery

Edit:
I have connected noco genius 10 to connectors and start charging in dead battery mode. After 1 minute isolating switch have closed.
No need to put high voltage to the battery.

Good luck with your batteries. My works again.
