I'm not a "blue" person by nature. YMB looked interesting in the many pics that I looked at over my past 30 day hunt for an M4. Sold my C-7 a month ago and that started the M hunt. The best 60 mile drive I ever took was to drive to another dealer and look at their YMB in person. Car was parked outside on a partly cloudy day. I was in love before I ever stepped out of my car! My local dealer did a trade with them and I pick it up in two days

Saw another one in the wild yesterday and I love the way it looks. I'm definitely going with this color.

Great color that helps define the M as special as opposed to regular colors that don't differentiate it from regular 3/4 series. That said the color is getting a bit tired and boring to me. It was the launch color and has been kind of overdone the last year and a half. I was hoping for some fresh and exotic colors for MY2016.

I've had tons of cars over the years and they've all been conservative blacks, whites, and silvers. My previous 911 was white. When I decided to get the M3 it was down to YMB and Black. Had both colors side by side at dealership and it was a no brainer. I get bored fast and they YMB has kept my interest….and, it gets lots of compliments. In the end it's a very special and fun color, which is very fitting for an M3.

The very first car that my parents "gave me" to drive when I turned 16 was an old VW Rabbit. The color was described by many as "Baby Blue". It clearly didn't help a 16 year old's self esteem at the time...
Too bad the color name "YMB" wasn't around at that time. I probably would have gotten my first car date much sooner.... |

From an Austin Yellow buyer...
Get what you love and what makes you happy. Nobody else in your life is going to think about it at all after the first week or so. Get what makes you happy, what you love. I think too many people worry about what others think and play it safe. Life's too short (and these cars are too pricy). Get what YOU love.

i still have yet to see the YMB in person. i've seen some pics where its one of the coolest colors i've seen and others where it looks like grandma's light blue Buick. So its hard to say until i see one in person. the thing that stopped my interest in that color was the interior. i'm tired of black interiors and that and silverstone are all that look right with it. not a fan of the light silverstone interior and sick of black so that ruled it out for me. i still really, really want to see on in person. anyone in NE Ohio?

Love it....BUT
IF they would have limited production on this color or made it an ind. color - I would have been all over it, and pulled the trigger (think Limerock Orange). But WAAAAY too many people are ordering this color...which makes it undesirable to me. Id rather be at a stoplight with 10 other white or black or grey, etc m3's than be at a stoplight with one other YMB m3.... thats my opinion. |

YMB is starting to grow on me. At first I thought it was too boy racer too. But now I kinda like it, especially since I learned that it's one of the three stripes in front the the M logo.
So now I pretty much like all the M colors, ...well except AY, that one still doesn't do it for me.

I still get compliments at least once a week from strangers for the color of mine, so no regrets here!

Six months in, and the only other time I see another YMB M3 is at cars & coffee, it belongs to another forum member too derpimpkar
I still get compliments on the color, because in reality, there aren't that many around, and outside of this realm, it's pretty unique.
