Any Punch to remove pads that won’t chip the paint of calipers

Was just wondering this. Not that it matters to me since my Blue calipers are in rough shape but what punches do you use to remove the pad pins that might not scratch the caliper in case I decide to powder coat them in the future lol.

This is what I bought because it was available local and easy. I just use the tip of my glove to soften the blow around the paint. It isnt a perfect solution but gets the job done.

I'm sure there is a better tool out there. Also interested in seeing what other people recommend.

Discolored calipers and chipped paint are badges of honor LOL

Seriously though my buddy has a BMW specific little punch for this but he paid like $50 for it. We jokingly call it the most expensive tool humanity has produced, I will ask him where he got it when I see him at the track on Monday

Much like the rest of the car, my calipers are chipped and all scratched up. I've already given up keeping the car "mint" after a few years of tracking. However, besides the benefit of reducing scratches, this cupped end punch sound like a good idea just to make the job a little less frustrating when the punch wanders off the pin:

Caliper Pad Pin Punch for Most OE Brembo Calipers PN:CCP01 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QXMGT6X...CWSG6JNXJ59XXE

I'm not sure of the size, but Amazon is pretty good about returns.

I have that, my only issue with this tool is that it's the wrong kind of steel, very soft and malleable.

When hammering on this, the small tip flares out, and then can no longer fit in the hole for the caliper pin. In order to make it fit, I had to stick this thing in my drill to spin it around, and then file it down with sandpaper. Added a lot of time and frustration to one or two of my brake jobs.

It should be made of a much harder steel that does not deform when hammering.

For this price you should get like 5 or 6 of them.

I had a set similar to those in the past. I would look elsewhere...
Metal is always weaker than advertised and they flatten over time. See pic.
The harbor freight are solid and no flattening. The head of the punch is really long and allows you to freely pound the entire pin out, unlike the short ones.

How about a cheap long punch with some fish tank tubing over top as a paint protector sleeve?
