That's actually my plan LOL. I figure when I find a lady-friend, I'll try to get her into driving with the F82, then in a couple years I'll say that I love the F82 but as a compromise I'll just go ahead and pick up an E90 so we can enjoy the drive together. Little will she know it was all part of the plan.
My mate was trying to find a car girl after his break up, I told him that it's better to just have someone who will tolerate his vehicular shenanigans in the beginning and either stay indifferent or become somewhat interested. Safe to say, she's started liking going fast in the passenger after a year or so.

I’d run both as daily / track toys tbh. I have this crazy idea to grab a e90 at some point and do a full “restomod” on it. Engine/trans refresh, exterior refresh, and interior re-trim. Thinking a cs-esque interior with 4 buckets (inspired by the f90 cs). I personally don’t mind looking for a 100k mile base car given what is plan to do with it. It’s more of a 5 year plan, so i’m pretty content to sit and wait until prices come back down to earth.

Yeah i’ve just been avoiding but continuously running into the realization that f8x and e9x are a perfect pairing… if you only had one you’d sorely miss the other

Yeah they minimum bar is toleration. Although all the chicks I’ve been dating lately seem to like that I’m into the car as a hobby (driving and working on it). I think they are probably just attracted to the fact that there’s a dude who knows how to use a wrench in 2021

Honestly, that's probably true. I know a lad in his 40s who barely knows how to change a light bulb in their home.

Finally sold? That thing had been going from dealer to dealer for years.

I saw one on the road many moons ago in a rural area, couldn't believe my eyes.

It was at Speedart in Miami last year. Enough time passed between that listing and this one out of NY that I think there was probably a private owner in there. No one inclined to drive it, though. Still only 700 mls. I'd double that in the first weekend.

We didn't get them, but somebody imported one and federalized it. Reportedly, 40k process and believe it's cleared for 5,000 mls/year, something like that.

Combination of E90, 4.4, dct, and that interior is too cool

true. you're right the tech isn't all that far behind for driver oriented stuff. i do like my audio though. I remember searching 5 months for an 2011-2013 LCI e92 2 years ago and never found one and so ended up with an F80. I was super picky and never found one that fit the bill with all the options, low miles, accident free, good color combo, AND had the logic 7 / EPS.

I'm guessing the PO did the federalisation and put it up for sale and it went from place to place

2017 article https://www.thedrive.com/article/101...-nearly-300000

I believe the initial concept car was actually dark blue and was named GTS

market is just getting more insane by the month. Spec and miles have a big factor in it though. GT3s with the sofa seats, pdk, and 10k + miles don't seem to be getting much over msrp

2007 GT3RS ... original sticker 134k, just sold for 270k Edit: looks like it didn't sell. reserve was higher than $270k lol
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...che-gt3-rs-33/

2018 GT3 6mt ... original sticker 175k, sold for 224k (about 230 when you add the 5k BaT fees).

This market is definitely not going to last.

I'm more curious how long it will continue.

997 GT3RS 6MT has been going up in value even before the pandemic and all the shortages though so.

Mk4 Supra TT has sold for 200k recently. Same spec with also 14k mls in 2019 went up to 100k. I bet there are some shenanigans going on behind the scenes on BaT.

Boring crap gets sold for absurd prices, so much so that I'd say someone must be doing laundry that particular day.

And it can't be too difficult to sell a car that didn't hit the reserve. One party reaches out to the other, offers to do a deal, seller sells for last price + buyer's fee which they then pocket and voila.

This Individual F10 M5 puts Porsche Exclusive almost to shame. I don't see a thing that's standard F10 other than the airbag and piano trim.

BMW definitely does do individual stuff better than Porsche.

I'd love to see this on a 6-Series with the dual tone dashboard design.

I've yet to find a 6er with an Individual interior that isn't the off-the-shelf stuff. They had that crazy Opal White/Amaro Brown option in the GC.

As much as I love the one in the M5, I couldn't live with it. I need to have black carpets and black upper areas incl. steering wheel, like this one below. I still think they knocked it out of the park with the interior design of the 6 Series.

Alpinas tend to have custom interiors, but not as often as one would think. This E46 B3 3.3 is crazy, though.

And that's "only" a .1 with a 3.6. Imagine what the 3.8 and 4.0 are commanding.

I'd say there's an 80% chance the current Porsche 911 market will be status quo forever, for a few reasons:

(1.) Porsche has a great high-volume business with SUVs
Still with plenty of room to grow up-market, down-market, and into new markets - so their revenue base is covered.

(2.) Porsche has a great new products business with BEVs:
The Taycan is a huge success with still room to grow and Porsche hasn't even begun to make BEVs in other form-factors. This is Porsche's opportunity to franchise their brand to many other market segments without any preconceived customer notions to overcome.

(3.) The luxury products market has transformed - shortage are the new-normal
The biggest harbinger of new-normal luxury product shortages is Rolex: starting in 2015 they shifted strategy to planned shortages and curated distribution

There are many reasons for the business model shift, but the largest one is profit margin growth by exploiting the human emotional fear of scarcity:

Basically the top 1% have a lot more money to spend (while the bottom 99% can't afford the new higher prices) and the easiest way to lower customer acquisition costs & increase margins is to limit distribution. A 1%er might be only be 50/50 on getting a 911 until you tell them they're really hard to get Now all of a sudden that 1%er will pay double to get one.

That's why a Rolex Daytona w/ an MSRP of $13k sells grey for $35k - ZOMG they're so scarce!

The luxury market used to be about selling decent volume to the top 10% - now it's about selling high-margin to the top 1%.

And in that being the case, the REAL bargain luxury product for me is LVMH stock.
