Funny you should mention. Been stalking the one federalized CRT around the U.S. Was in Miami last year, looks to have sold out of NY just yesterday... https://www.autosportdesigns.com/veh...rt-lightweight

Yes! I totally forgot about that when writing my post. We didn’t get any in the US (euro exclusive I think?) but I remember all the promos they would run back in 2011ish. Very unique seat setup

market is just getting more insane by the month. Spec and miles have a big factor in it though. GT3s with the sofa seats, pdk, and 10k + miles don't seem to be getting much over msrp
2007 GT3RS ... original sticker 134k, just sold for 270k Edit: looks like it didn't sell. reserve was higher than $270k lol https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...che-gt3-rs-33/ 2018 GT3 6mt ... original sticker 175k, sold for 224k (about 230 when you add the 5k BaT fees). https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2018-porsche-gt3-49/

I'm more curious how long it will continue. 997 GT3RS 6MT has been going up in value even before the pandemic and all the shortages though so.

Boring crap gets sold for absurd prices, so much so that I'd say someone must be doing laundry that particular day. And it can't be too difficult to sell a car that didn't hit the reserve. One party reaches out to the other, offers to do a deal, seller sells for last price + buyer's fee which they then pocket and voila.

This Individual F10 M5 puts Porsche Exclusive almost to shame. I don't see a thing that's standard F10 other than the airbag and piano trim.

BMW definitely does do individual stuff better than Porsche.

I'd love to see this on a 6-Series with the dual tone dashboard design.

As much as I love the one in the M5, I couldn't live with it. I need to have black carpets and black upper areas incl. steering wheel, like this one below. I still think they knocked it out of the park with the interior design of the 6 Series. Alpinas tend to have custom interiors, but not as often as one would think. This E46 B3 3.3 is crazy, though.

(1.) Porsche has a great high-volume business with SUVs Still with plenty of room to grow up-market, down-market, and into new markets - so their revenue base is covered. (2.) Porsche has a great new products business with BEVs: The Taycan is a huge success with still room to grow and Porsche hasn't even begun to make BEVs in other form-factors. This is Porsche's opportunity to franchise their brand to many other market segments without any preconceived customer notions to overcome. (3.) The luxury products market has transformed - shortage are the new-normal The biggest harbinger of new-normal luxury product shortages is Rolex: starting in 2015 they shifted strategy to planned shortages and curated distribution There are many reasons for the business model shift, but the largest one is profit margin growth by exploiting the human emotional fear of scarcity: Basically the top 1% have a lot more money to spend (while the bottom 99% can't afford the new higher prices) and the easiest way to lower customer acquisition costs & increase margins is to limit distribution. A 1%er might be only be 50/50 on getting a 911 until you tell them they're really hard to get Now all of a sudden that 1%er will pay double to get one. That's why a Rolex Daytona w/ an MSRP of $13k sells grey for $35k - ZOMG they're so scarce! The luxury market used to be about selling decent volume to the top 10% - now it's about selling high-margin to the top 1%. And in that being the case, the REAL bargain luxury product for me is LVMH stock. |
