Saddest Day - car totaled due to accident caused by seizure

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I'm new to forums as a member but a long time lover of Bimmerpost. I has a seizure while driving to an appointment earlier this month and wanted to share the loss of my car. Fortunately I am alive to drive again but I don't think the same can be said of my of my M3. Any thoughts on moving forward would be much appreciated.

Glad to hear you are OK and same thing happened to me two weeks ago, my black M3 was total and my insurance just issued a check this week for the loss. Flying down to LA to pick up my replacement in Imola red 6MT next Thursday.

Based on the photo the car is totaled air bags deployed and the suspension looked damaged, hope your insurance company will total the car. Good luck.

Glad you're ok. Sorry for your loss - the car looks totaled.

My best friend went through the same thing. He's diagnosed with epilepsy and had an accident or two while driving. Luckily no injuries but just a big bump in insurance following the episodes.

If you're prescribed medications you just need follow it more closely and be more careful. You can always get another m3 and enjoy the drive- I hope you do

The greatest thing that happened was that the car did its job -It protected you. Keep your head up, from the information you provided, I gather nobody was hurt. Cars can always be replaced. Best of luck brother!

Glad you are ok man!
How do you move forward?

* be thankful for being alive
* put this behind you. What happened is past.
* get another M car. If you cannot afford it now, have a plan in place and get it when you can.

Be safe!

Glad you're ok. No advice. Just wishing you all the best going forward.

BTW, in the last pic is that a knee air bag? Is it an option in the Ms?

OP, glad you are not injured and that it was a single vehicle accident

My $0.02 is edit or delete your original post and consult an attorney in your state to discuss the rules around your situation.

Glad you are ok, thats the most important thing.

But agreed, you should not be driving for the next 6-12months until cleared by your Neurologist, doesnt mean you cant get a replacement M but need to consider your and everyones safety first.

As others have said the most important thing is that you and people around you are ok. The car is the car - as much as it may/may not be your baby it is replaceable at the end of the day. Hope you took many photos so will keep the memories while you look forward to the next car

What is the purpose of deleting the post? With that many emergency vehicles and I’m sure an accident report, this is obviously on public record. Sorry to hear OP, good luck to you.

OP might want to run his assessment of the cause of accident by his attorney first before posting on public forum

Glad you're OK ... car is replaceable for sure ... you should be thankful.

Were you running on the standard summer performance tires? That could be an issue, I cannot tell for sure

My wife has epilepsy and she just got in her car with our young kid in a car seat when she had her first Seizure at age 35 and didn't even know she had epilepsy. Thank god she didn't put her car in reverse out our driveway. I know how you feel about all of this , her drivers license was taken away by DMV ASAP and we work really hard to make sure her medication is the perfect . We now have 2 more kids and no seizures since she been watch closely , I'll offer you any advice from my wife and also when your back on getting into car and driveling safe I'll like to buy a you a nice part for your car. Something carbon fiber or a intake or what ever makes you happy

Thanks for sharing , there is a lot of people with epilepsy and since i meet my wife I have been more aware. Your a HERO for talking about it

Emergency Stop Assist

For what it's worth there is new tech coming to BMW, starting with the new G05 X5 called Emergency Stop Assist which helps stop the vehicle in case the driver becomes incapacitated due to injury or medical condition by detecting if hands have left the steering wheel, providing necessary lane changes to the shoulder can also be made automatically between the speeds of 70 – 100 km/h (43 – 62 mph), the hazard lights automatically come on then the vehicle automatically utilizes the Emergency Call function to notify emergency services. This technology is will trickle down to the new Gxx 3-series vehicles.

Your spirit may be broken due to the total loss but there will something better, faster for you. Glad you're okay.
