It was around 105 F here in Sacramento yesterday. The A/C in my M4 worked just fine.

I have an F83 and I think it's excellent most of the time. It's been 100 degrees in DC all week and the AC couldn't keep up. It was too hot for top down motoring any how. At 90 degrees or cooler or with the top up its great.

I've always had normal metal roofs with no holes in them. Never been a fan of the sun/moonroof. That's my comparison. My wife's car is white and it get hotter than my black car. This is another reason why I think the CF plays a role. Of course the lack of tint on her car plays a role as well. The first few weeks I had the M (no tint) I noticed it was both cooler than my last black on black car, but also my wife's car.
Ya well colors come into play as well. Lighter colors are proven to reject heat while darker colors absorb heat.

Soo...

I wonder if this has to do with humidity or just different builds because I have an F83 and my A/C can easily keep up with 90 and I've been over 100^ and it wasn't a problem in the slightest ... but none of that was in humid conditions.

Hence I said the White car gets hotter than the Black car. Which is the reverse of what is normal. The Black car being the M3.

It has been well established that F80 rear a/c is not great and will leave children sweating, especially if they fall asleep.

It's probably just me but I think the AC in my 2014 F30 was much better in terms of cooling power. I never had to go beyond third fan level on my F30 but with the M4 I almost don't feel anything if it's less than third fan level. AC is my biggest disappointment so far with my M4. The car is just two months old so I don't think there is something wrong with the AC.

Never owned an F30, but have owned 18 BMWs and my M4 A/C is the coldest of any I have owned. And it gets hot where I live

That's another reason why I'm so disappointed. I live in Bay Area so it doesn't even get that hot here. I'll observe it little more and maybe take it in to see if it's normal.

We frequently have 100+ temps and are able to set the A/C temp to 72 and the fan at speed 2. We have the center vent thumbwheel set to full cold and are very comfortable. Use the Max A/C button occasionally when the car has been parked outside for awhile, but only takes a few minutes to get the temp down. Very pleased with the M4 A/C.

I'm in the bay area too and have the same experience Sakhir does - if it's super hot I use max a/c which cools things down fast, otherwise on a roadtrip 72, fan speed of 2, center at full cold is more than fine. If it's longer than 2 hours I'll usually go up to 74 or 75 so I'd say the a/c works great.

My experience is totally different. I don't even remember when was the last time my AC temp was in 70s for cooling, always in mid 60s. I might have to get it checked out.

Please keep up posted ... I suspect there is something funky with the A/C as this has come up a bunch, but it seems to be spotty ... given I have an F83 I'm a different production line than the other M4s but that doesn't seem to be it ...

Is the center thumbwheel turned all the way to blue? When I first got my car I thought it sucked too until I figured it out. South Florida = just leave it all the way on blue / cold and don't touch it.
