BMW: (rubbing hands together) "Bwa-ha ha! This guy is going to buy our car no matter what, so let's try to sell him TWO cars instead of just one! When we introduce LED taillights, some lowering springs, some shitty heavy cast wheels, and a larger Navigation screen for the 2017 model year, it will be just that much easier for him to rationalize trading in his 2015 M3 for a new one!"

Except this time I'm not falling for it. I'm looking at CTS-V and C63 AMG's and at least in those cars I don't have to worry about kids in Mustangs blowing my doors off.
if you are 39 yr old and get offended by kids in mustang trying to race you on the street... nvm.... take it out at the track. most of those kids have too big of an ego to be fast on the track anyway lol

Driver error.

Perhaps you should look into a nice BMW 320. It's a little more your style.

Totally agree.
What are the chances you still have to pay for an alarm??

Again these will be optional equipment at high cost.

The 5er will follow with the next generation as will the next 6er and of course luxury SAV the X7. Again they will be optional to the customer.
It is not looking likely that Laser Headlights will be offered for the 4er or indeed M4 to customers as an option.
Are you confirming there will be an X7?

This marketing tactic of BMW is really frustrating. The LCI should be real improvements, not giving back something you ought to have on a 80,000 car for more money.

FWIW the new MB C class starting at $36k has LED tail lights across the entire lineup. LED headlights and LED active headlights are two options available.

I'll do you one better. The lower-market MB CLA comes with full LED taillights, and that thing starts $29k.

Yeah, upgrading my '08 in '10 was something like $1,200 with new FW module required back then and programming.

Also, Audi A4 has standard LEDs as well. So did/does the A3.

That KIA isn't really a fair comparison, it looks like they're still using incandescent bulbs for the brake lights/ signals, similar to the 3/4 series.

The 3/4 series uses, LED lamps for illuminating the strips, but incandescent bulbs for turn signal and brake lights

You're right... I'm comparing a $19,400 car to an $80,000 car and the $80,000 car is not better in this matter.

I am willing to bet the the M boys will surprise us with full LED for taillights at launch. That would be a new twist to tradition. Remember my prediction..

Haha, I like where you're head is at. Just keep an eye out for those GT500s or sneaky GTs with cheap blower kits putting down 500whp.

Here's to hoping the CTS-V and C63 do great things. I bet the ATS-V will compare well against the M3 too.

So many rumors now that the X7 is coming. Scott27 had posts like this a couple of years ago, too. Makes sense given how well the GL sells.

Back on topic, I don't understand why people are so obsessed with LED tails. Yes it would be a chickenshit move to leave them off just to have something else to add to the LCI, but do you really care that much? You never see them...

Yes there is a strategy evolving for a new luxury SAV which will be called the X7 it will be the flagship of the BMW X line. By 2017 there will be a BMW X1 to X7 as SUVs in all segments are a license to print money.

It will not be the ultimate SAV. That honor will fall to the Rolls-Royce SUV.
The deliberation is ongoing whether to build the X7/RR in Spartanburg or alongside its basis car the 7er in Dingolfing.
The RR would be "finished" at Goodwood, England.

The next generation BMW X1 will be built in Leipzig with additional satellite production in the Netherlands with its MINI twin and the Brazil werks when it comes online.

NICE!!
It's funny how everyone tries to talk being green and act being green with buying hybrids and golf carts, but when it comes time to signing the papers, people still want SUV/SAV/Crossover type vehicles.

Where's the X4 going to be produced? I'm assuming X3X5/X6 will be at Spartanburg still?
