Need a crash course on 2015 M3 standard and optional equipment
Please and thank you.
Looking to move up from my 435i to an M3. I want the four doors. And I am going to get a daily and garage the M a bit. So I am interested in this car. https://www.warwickautopark.com/inve...mw-m3-6-speed/ Given that it's not at a BMW dealership, info on the car is limited. I need a crash course on the M options. What are the big ticket options? And is this car missing them? The rims were added. It doesn’t have the Competition package (since its a 2015). For example, my 435i MSport had Dynamic Handling and Adaptive M, etc. - big ticket options. When an M3 is deemed "base" whats it really missing? I am sorry as I know this info is searchable, but I’m looking to get a good working knowledge of these cars fast. I like this one and it could move quick. |

It looks to have Carbon Structure Cloth seats, LED headlights are obvious. It also appears lowered to me.
Does not appear to have: adaptive suspension, full leather dash. You could do a VIN Decode to get full details? |

Seems high for a stripped down build. ZCP is the biggest item, fwiw, esp on the early models. It's not just about the extra power, it's also the diff changes.
Not sure how you feel about no leather seats, that'd be an issue for me.

It sure looks like it got the visual parts of a competition package - or at least most of the visible accoutrements such as the 666M wheels, the shadowline model designations, etc. I also believe (although I am not certain) that the vehicle has Comp seats and the CF dash pieces that my comp pack has.
Then again, it doesn't appear to have the M seat belt stitching - so perhaps someone spent the money to make it look like a Comp Pkg M3 . . . In short, in general, the Comp Pkg is worth the extra cash - at least in my mind. Opinions can vary, however. Edit to add: Just saw the lack of adaptive suspension. Seems like a bunch of cash was poured into this for visible, popular changes, but they ignored the heart of the matter. I'd pass unless you would forgo the Com Pkg anyway based on your own wishes. |

really appreciate these responses.
So whats deal with seats? They arent the comp seats. The full comp package wasnt available in 2015 to my knowledge, What does ZCP refer to? edit: oh this is the comp package? How do i know if this has adaptive suspension? Thanks again! |

Had the following optioned: ZLP Lighting Package, includes adaptive LED's and auto high beams 415 Power Rear Sunshade 2VY 19" 437M's 688 HK Surround Sound ...and that's about it. Sticker was ~$67k. ~25% depreciation from sticker on a ~4 y/o car that's probably got months left on the factory warranty isn't a good deal at all IMO. |

Agree it does not have competition package that did not exist at the time, despite the wheels. The seats are also not CP seats and neither is the grill surround. I don’t think it has adaptive suspension either based on picture where you can see shifter. Looks like an over-priced stripper.

No adaptive suspension is fine, but you'll want to get a nice set of coilovers. I'd look closely at the suspension, see if it has aftermarket coil overs?
Nevertheless, if you like the car and can get it for a good price, go for it. Wholesale value is probably about $36-$38K on that car, so if they'd accept $40-42K form you that might be OK if you really like the car. Be advised it will be out of factory warranty soon. Use that as leverage. Say "I'm worried about owning a high performance car with no warranty".

well my 435 has all the big ticket items
Off the top of my head it has 1) mperformance power kit which is like a $2500 port installed option consisting of engine tune, intake and exhaust. This is all factory stuff which adds 35hp. 2) M adaptive - this is rare and expensive for a regular 4 series. 3) dynamic handling 4) msport aero which is literally the M aero package minus the wide body. So same front and rear bumpers as this car. 5) cold weather package. 6)upgraded 19inch rims Its msrp was in the 60-70k range itself. I was honestly thinking my car plus 15k. My car has 47k miles. needs tires. |

If you like having as many options as possible it might be better to find different M3. This one is bare minimum with led headlights, sunshade and 20'' rims. It does have few more standard options over the regular 3 series but still, there's few more perks available. Here's more info about options https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=972784 Last edited by F82///M; 01-08-2019 at 03:16 PM.. |

Wondering the feel of the ride quality on 20" 666M without the M adaptive suspension? Might be too harsh without adaptive, 19" rim might be preferred as the ZCP package also offered 19".
Priced way to high as others have stated.

It is priced to high. All these boutique type places try this. And when it sits they eventually come down. Anyways. Ct ny nj always have a tax on top
So it looks like this thing is a base or close to it. It’s still in the running but I’d have to do really well on the price for it to work. I don’t need every option but the sporty options I do need. It sounds like I have to have the dynamic suspension. I really appreciate all the guidance. This got me up to speed quick. The issue with the 435i is I put 27k on it one year. My commute is too far. Yet the car isn’t special enough to garage. So the plan is to cut my losses. Sell it. Get an M and an old accord for daily use. I’ll put 8-10k miles a year on it. |

It looks like it has very few options, with the only added cost options besides metallic paint being the LED headlights and Harman Kardon sound system.
Options missing:
See here for the 2015 pricing guide for a comprehensive view of cost options and standard features: https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=948086

I agree with everyone here and ty for the feedback.
The deal wont work right now. They will do "ok" on my car but wont budge from the 50k. Which is a little over priced as its missing the adaptive handling which is big deal and its modified and isnt CPO. Pretty much everyone is saying its high. I think they will ultimately come down to 45k. But even then not sure it fits for me with the adaptive missing. Maybe once they come down to earth i can do it and add coilovers. |
