That being said, the weight reduction items will be available as M-Performance upgrades.

Aren't there some new stuff too, like the CCB caliper with new iron rotor? That is pretty interesting, and the sort of update that a heavy track user would make anyway.
There are also new BBS wheels, all the cooling stuff and sports exhaust from m4cp, for about $60k. That's how much my '15 f80 was, and this comes with more performance and convenient stuff, so it's interesting to me. There's also the open question about whether there will be different tuning for nannies and suspension. In any case, as I said earlier, I'm on the list for m2 comp but wasn't interested in n55 m2 or m3/m4 cs |

Not really. It is a question of how the M2 is positioned in the market. I think BMW did a great job positioning this latest iteration of the M2 from a price and performance standpoint. They answered many complaints starting with more fundamental stuff like having a true ///M "S" engine to more trivial stuff like the ///M mirrors and seats. They still need to keep the price in check though, hence why they did not include the weight reduction items in the base M2C. They however cater to the smaller crowd that do want the performance benefits of lower weight through the M-Performance aftermarket options.

The lease rates are so terrible, that being said, how is the used car market for the current M2? Maybe BMW doesn’t want to whore out these cars by subsidizing them but the resale market is not too bad. I would imagine the M2 6MT will do very well as the F80 6MT in the used car market

Don’t confuse the model hierarchy. There is no M2 CS as of yet. We’re talking M2 Competition here.

Availability will be similar to early M2. If you want to spec your own build, you will need to get in line for an allocation. What I want to see in 10+ years, what will be worth more similarly optioned 2019 BMW M2 Competition or 2019 M4. Just due to lower build numbers, my guess is the M2 Competition.

Anybody have a reference to where it shows that the M2C is heavier than the M3/4ZCP?
Honestly, I am kicking myself a bit with this. I would have definitely gone with the M2 Comp Pack over the M3 had I known about this when I got the M3. I prefer smaller, nibble, go kart like cars over bigger ones. And as long as it's fun, the inferior interior (hahaha) doesn't bother me. |

I really thought that that is a ridiculous comparison... the M5 would smoke the M2 going away! Well, in 4 wheel drive, the M5 blew away the M2, but when they put the M5 into two wheel mode, the M2 actually beat it on the track! The M2 was beaten on the straight aways, but was able to make up the difference in the turns. Besides, I'm not sure most people get an M2 for the track (I've driven an M2 on the track, but it wasn't mine) |
