Default M DDC settings at startup

I bought the carly app and obd Bluetooth adapter to code it myself.
I couldn't find it in app, so i write to support and they say me was not possible by the moment, but they will study the possibility to add this option in future updates if it is requested by people, so all you know what to do now.

Hi guys- Qestion from a new M3 owner.

Just bought my car last Saturday so it’s still very new. And I’m still learning all these settings. I get the two M mode buttons. These are great for when you want to set up an M mode in manual. But what about startup mode? Like when I first start the car it defaults to engine in Efficient, suspension in sport and steering in sport. I usually change the engin to sport and suspension to comfort. Is there a way to set that? So it just starts up in the mode I want?

No, you'll need to use M1 or M2 to set up what you want and press it after startup.

The 2018MY service M4 that I teste drove started in Efficient, Comfort, Comfort. That was ideal. Thought mine would be like that but nope, starts in Efficient, Sport, Sport. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I didn’t read the entire thread but is it coded to the key seat memory position at time of setting memory?

If I were you, I would double check that. All M3/4 default to Efficient/Sport/Sport (and D1 for those with DCT).

And no, the start-up defaults are not "coded with the key" since they are not changeable. However the M1/M2 button settings are (they are stored in the driver profiles that the key calls-up).

Not all. Some start in Efficient/Comfort/Comfort.

Nope. All M3/4 start in Efficient/Sport/Sport. That’s the whole point of this thread...

The M5/6 however do start-up in Efficient/Comfort/Comfort.

I know for a fact that not all start like that. The 2018MY that I had for 3 days started in Efficient/Comfort/Comfort. I asked BMW why my 2019MY didn't start the same and they were puzzled, they even asked the new owner of the 2018MY to confirm it and it did indeed start in Efficient/Comfort/Comfort. I can't tell you why but it is what it is. This is in Portugal, Europe.

And the "whole point" of this thread is not being able to change the default settings, which isn't the same as having different default settings from factory.

Sorry for my skepticism, but this is the only reported case of an F8X M3/4 with a default Efficient/Comfort/Comfort setting. If it is truly the case, which I still doubt, it is the anomaly.

I have an 18 and it is Efficient/Sport/Sport. But, US spec of course.

Agreed. But it IS frigging LAME. Efficient is bad enough, but combine it with S1????? In an M4? Come on!

On a side note...I wonder how many of that 80% THINK the car is fast in efficient and S1 LMAO, and rarely, if ever, change the settings

As has been discussed thoughout this thread, the Efficient engine setting as a default start-up is likely used for the fuel economy rating. I actually use Efficient/Comfort/Comfort/S1 for the DD and quite like it that way. What I find annoying is the useless combination of Efficient engine with Sport suspension and Sport steering.
