2018 F83 AC Output Diminished…

Today I drove my 2018 F83 (late model 17) around with the ac on 60, not on maximum air output, for roughly 4 hours and at one point I noticed the airflow greatly decreased so I put the AC on max setting since I got hot and barely any air came out. I turned off the ac for 20 mins then back on and it worked.

Isn't there a sb on this issue ?

there's a TSB for it. i fixed mine... 2 ways to fix, add a clip from OEM as spacer between the sensor or programming.

Just sell the car. Seems like all your posts are complaints about it. Maybe it's a lemon.

Would a dealer update to the 2020 software istep include this programming update?

No. I recently updated mine and the output still fell dramatically when on a road trip to Austin. It was around lunchtime so I just pulled into a restaurant and let it sit for an hour. No issues the remainder of the weekend. More or an inconvenience for me - not sure it's worth resolving since I don't drive the car long distances very often.

Rog, looks like i’ll be purchasing the $1 adapter. Install doesn’t look too difficult

I had the same issue.

It's a known problem easy fix.

My local BMW dealer was already aware; fixed under warranty as I slummed in a 340M loaner.

Felt like a very fast 330i

Was so long ago.

I think it had something to do with the temperature setting with the evaporator.

I'll find out and post the repair info.

That was definitely the issue:

Pulled from a prior post.
Dealer work order says "performed conversion to raise min evap temp", which they say is the fix.

I had a 330i as a loaner, I think it's a very fun balanced car. Can rev it up on surface streets and not go to jail unlike the M4 LOL.

Let me know how that works - if cheap and easy fix, I'm in.

This. Just happened to me this past week in Dallas TX area when it was hitting 100 degrees finally. Dealer just put a spacer and some programming as jzhu625 stated.

Would love to get the programming done through trusted 3rd party. (Dealer wanted over $500 in diagnostic and coolant recheck/recharge fees) Another well known coder on here mentioned he isn't able to do it, fingers crossed for kubax.

You can just add spacer WITHOUT programming

I did it myself about a week ago, and no change. Seems like for some cars coding may be necessary.
