brake noise after track day
I've got an 18' ZCP. I did a track day back in march and the OEM brakes were fine. I was surprised how well they held up after 4 20 mins sessions. I went again last week and everything was fine until the end of the last session. I immediately noticed a bit of a wobble and rough sound. Not so much a warped rotor feeling, but some shimmy and low grinding sound. I've only driven it a couple times since and it hasn't cleared up.
Are we talking about new pads or are the rotors toast too? My wife is going to be thrilled. For what it's worth, I got my best time on that last session.

These were OEM pads? If you were really bookin' then chances are you got a nice uneven shmear of pad material on the rotors, since OEM pads are not really designed to take the abuse of a faster pace. This uneven layer is now scraping against your pads
Would just drive them normally on street for a few weeks and let the pads scrub your rotors at normal operating temperatures; if that was the issue, then with this the problem should fix itself over time. Then go get track pads |

Took it to the dealer today and scored a full front end brake job under warranty! Next track day, I'll definitely swap out for some Pagid track pads first.

Maybe take a look at PFC pads. I ran Pagids until I overheated them and crashed, so now I always run a pad that can tolerate much more heat.

How quickly did they overheat? I'm doing 4 20 min sessions in a day.

same thing just happened to me but I'm on DS1.11 pads. Since returning from Watkins I noticed a sh sh sh rubbing sound originating from my left front rotor. The sound frequency is correlated to speed. I'm assuming it's pad deposits and not a warped rotor.

Not long ago I came across a set of pads I never though about using. They were recommended to my by several corvette guys.
Powerstop Track day They are superb and super cheap. They bed in well, they make no noise on the street unless you rally stop to stop and hear them up. 0 fade on track and I run hard with aero. I believe it's the best $/performance pad you can buy. I highly recommend them
