I'm ready to sell perfectly good M4 because of my squeaky brakes. Absolutely ridiculous and embarrassing. Was at dealer 3x for same problem. Bmwna also told me to kick rocks. :fuming:

So much fail (bad advice) in this thread. Good job BMW for spectacularly confusing marketing methods and vague direction as to the characteristics, use, and care of M Carbon Ceramic Brakes.

I agree 100%, it feels like buying a running tshirt which shrinks when in contact with sweat

I can't even imagine how it must be in Istanbul. Of all the major global cities, it would be in my top 5 where the traffic, road network, and environment limit most of the use to the ranges that have the most drawbacks.

True that, it's always bumper to bumper traffic and the only place I can use the car to the limits is the Formula1 race track trackdays. However, it seems like I will be having problems with it as well due to these CCB. Moreover, the brakes started to squeak like crazy during slow speed traffic due to tracking.

I met a dude with CCBs on his M6 grand coupe he says he hoses the rotors down every 2 days to cut down on noise. But he does say that his squeak like mad as well.

I have a hose at the office lol gonna try it

Don't ALL carbon ceramic brakes exhibit some form of noise compared to a steel setup?

If so I don't see why the surprise and complaints.

@Bart@AUTOcouture Did you shoot a video or sound clip of the sounds?

My CCBs were quiet up until about 1500m and now Im hearing some 'groaning' when coming to a slow/gradual stop and at low speeds when turning left or right- like when you slowly turn the wheel to pull into a parking spot.

not sure what else to try? going to make an appt at dealer and see what they say.

For some reason I get a hum when if I am braking and turning at the same time and stops as soon as I left off the brakes, normal breaking coming to a red light there's no noise

Saturating the pads on MCCB with water is a very bad idea. It creates a grinding paste until they're dry and leads to increased noise.

DSC/ABS will add a little bit of additional pressure with lateral loads to maintain the pad tension. The rotors are delicate without compression and vibrations from losing contact can Spall the rotor or worse.

I am getting a constant whistle when turning left/right. Apart from normal squeal when applying break. Nothing when straight... how is this possible? Thanks

My CCB's also squeak but to be honest, I'd rather take squeaking over brake dust any day of the week. I just DGAF about it anymore...do I wish they were quiet? Yes. Would I get CCB's again to avoid brake dust? Absolutely.

I don't mind the squeal.... I mind the rock getting stuck in the heat shield, but luckily that occurs less than the brake squeal.

Cheers,

Carbon Ceramic Squeal Easy Fix

I show you exactly how we fixed the notorious squeal when I was a tech at Lamborghini Beverly Hills. You can do it yourself easily with an empty stretch of highway. I also explain why this happens and the unspoken danger low heat cycles cause on the rotors. Surprise! they aren't lifetime rotors!!!

Did you ever get a fix for this? I have a 15 M4 and this issue is driving me nuts. Wanted to see if you ever resolved or just sold the car?
