bootmod3 - E30 stage 1

Hi all,

I just got my bm3 license and have installed the ACN91 tune with no issues. However, I really want to maximize the stock potential, and since I can't use the 93 tune in the state I'm in, I was looking for an E30 blended map. I see one for stage 2 (requires down pipes), but not for stage 1. So my questions is can I just use the 93 tune and blend about 3 gallons with ACN91 (should raise the octane to about 95)?

I assume it's fine to do, but wanted to check in case there is something special/weird about the M4 that makes that an issue (I just got the car a few days ago).

Thanks for the help!

S.

Yes you can blend and do E30, but take the Stage 2. It works fine with stock cats or sport cats…since they flow so good.

Cool - thanks! Will try that out.

Did a drive tonight and the difference was huge with just the ACN91!

Thanks!

BM3 flex fuel is coming out soon. I would pay the $XXX so you can run whatever ethanol concentration you want without switching maps.

Not custom - just OTS. I’m on the stage 2 E30 now.

Agreed - I need to get the ethanol sensor first though, which I will do soon. Also will help with knowing exactly what my concentration is as hitting E30 when you don’t know if you have E70 winter blend or E85 summer blend isn’t easy!

At the track I will have race gas available so that will be fun

Thanks!

PTF recommends downpipes for the E30, you probably can run it without downpipes but its more aggressive than PTF likes.

We offer the PTF flex fuel sensor, it'll adjust power based on your ethanol content

To add to my previous comment that you can run Stg 2 with cats on…do not pick the "AGG" maps because burbles hurt/cook cats. You can run burbles on the Non-AGG tunes but PTF said to keep any Custom Burbles with aggression under 5, to stay nice to your cats. All the OEM burbles (ZCP, GTS, etc) are all mild enough in Agg/Duration for stock cats.

I didn't want to start a new topic but also have a question on E30 map.

Friend of mine bought flex fuel and he did test all maps out there on 93+ octane and ethanol blends. The best times 60-130(100-200) we got on stage 93 map.

E30 / multi map stage 2 + flex fuel are slower than 93octane stage 2.

How is that possible?

We'd need to check the test and make sure its accurate and under the same exact condition. Could be a loss of traction that lead to the slower time.

assuming the test is 100% accurate, It could be that under the conditions your friend was running, bm3 went for a more conservative map because that's what it deemed safe at the time.

If your buddy had run the 93 tune for a while, and then adjusted fuel and flashed new maps to test, this is possible. Flashing a new map will reset the learned adaptations and the engine will try to “relearn” at a lower power level for a little while. Many tuners here recognize the relearning and have some tricks to speed it up, like driving through all the gears with different throttle levels. Then you do 5 good runs and see how the power settles in.

Winter is fading away and soon we should get back on streets I also got myself FlexFuel and I will start playing with Etanol. I should be running something close to e30 blend mixing octane 93+ (Shell Vpower racing) with pure etanol.

So which OTS map should I start to test? MultiMap Stage 2 + FlexFuel? do couple of pulls and then see if it gets better? Currently im on stg2 93 octane driving on shell Vpower
