KW non edc coilovers on EDC

Just bought a set of KW non-edc coilovers and was wondering if there is any work arounds i can do to fit them on. From what i've read the shaft that goes to the rear shock top mount is 12mm on non edc and 14mm on edc. Can i just sleeve this to fit? Or do i need to source a lower guide plate from a non edc car.

Went to bmw just to get a quote on parts and they were telling me the mount is the same. So just a bit lost and think i messed up when ordering them.

The front strut has two versions. A 5-bolt mount and a 3-bolt mount to the strut tower. I believe the MY ‘15 uses the 3-bolt and the MY ‘16-‘20 use the 5-bolt mount.

I think you’re getting the e9x M3 EDC vs. non-EDC. The f8x uses an external bracket that bolts the rear shock to the chassis. The bracket has a 3-bolt mount to the chassis and a one nut connection to the shock piston rod. REALOEM.com (see picture below) shows the same sized bolts and nut are used on the upper bracket mounting fasteners and central nut for edc and non-edc.

You will not require an EDC cancellation kit or EDC coding to turn off EDC fault codes and dash light.

You should be fine installing a coilover kit for edc on a non-edc car. Only issue is the 3-bolt vs. 5-bolt top mount for the front strut.

Weird that it did not give me a 3 or 5 bolt option. Just edc or non edc. So i assumed the front was the same and it was the back that differed.
Went with non because i dont care to be able to use the edc. i figured it could be coded out vs using the delete kit which is probably just resistors? Was figuring the difference in price was with the delete kit or not.

I can't remember if it's the same on my m3 but the gepfeffert kw v2s i had on my f30 had top mounts that supported both 3 and 5 bolt mounting options, the kit you're looking at likely offers the same.

as well as coding out EDC, you'll need to remove the EDC adapter plate (#5 in the diagram below) and get the correct length bolts

KW V3 reuse your stock upper strut mount. New upper strut mounts do not come with V3s. Below is a picture showing your upper strut mount is reused so a 3-bolt needs a 3-bolt upper strut mount and a 5-bolt needs a 5-bolt upper strut mount (bottom right side of picture). The picture on the upper left and second picture below shows the V3 comes with a tapered main strut spring that fits the stock top mount that is already on your car.

Rear shock top mount (nr 3 in the picture?) is actually same in EDC or non EDC (part number 33502284703) so you can use it. But you have to remove adapter plates (nr 5 in the picture) first and because of this you need shorter star-socket screw M8x25 (07119907137). EDC version screws are longer and you can not use them.
At the same time, it is a good idea to also replace the seals and covering caps with new ones.

KW got only one version 5 x M8 mm. If your car is made 2014 or early 2015 there might be 3 x M10 mm version.
If so, the 5 x M8 version can be modified to the 3 x M10 version. The 3 M8 holes just need to be enlarged to M10 size.
Been there done that.

Thank you tommix. The post I read was somehow in the m3/m4 channel and didn't realize they were talking about the e chassis. But yeah if its a lttle tinkering here or there not a problem. I just wanted to make sure i actually could. And didn't order junk.

The KW V3 comes with a tapered main spring that matches the diameter of the stock spring at the top of the strut. Consequently, the V3 (non-CS) reuses the stock upper strut fixed mount, does not come with a KW camber plate. You can replace the stock mount with a camber-caster plate that has an option to match the stock spring upper diameter (Ground Control, Vershlag and Millway). No modifications to a KW camber plate are required because a KW camber plate only interferes with a 60 mm (or is it 61 mm?).

You are right, I got Club Sport version which includes that camber plate.
