New model looks like a beast. Low and wide. But,
Any Bmw M- model cannot be like E92. Power-full free breathing NA V8 whit unique body shell which is designed before pedestrian-protection requirements tightened. -We have lost something, what we never get back. We all understand this later. It´s time to turn page in M3 history. |

Call me crazy but I frankly like the e92 better and does not look aged one bit. I really wanted to love the new m3 because I have the money to add one to the stable but frankly Id rather spend time driving the e92 and add something more worthy.
As you can see the weight is only 115 pounds difference for the e92 vs m4 DCT cleary no where near the 300 pounds everyone was speculating about. Basically is the same weight as the e46 which is still great that they didn't continue to add weight. But if you are a DCt person, 100 pounds less is great but not a game changer. You can take out rear seats in the e92 and lose 75 pounds so that would put you almost right there if you were set on not giving up weight to the f80 |

Not sure if its the angles or the lines of the cars but the M4 looks HUGE compared to the M3.

The e92 integration of the rear bumper is a lot smoother and looks much better. Look at picture 5 and the bumper looks like it juts out a lot from the trunklid. Also the e92 front hood integration without that damn hoodline is much much cleaner. Side profile is a toss up. E92 smoother lines but f30 much more agressive.

I hate the screens in the new BMWs
I absolutely hate the screens in the new BMWs. To me here is how they came about.
The finished the design and someone said - CRAP we forgot to put a navigation screen in the car. Well we will just plop it right there. I very much prefer the hidden tucked away screen in my e92. |

I love the e90/92 M3's and have long wanted one as my next car. But, looking at them side by side like this makes the e92 look "old" to me. Still love the car but this puts it in a unique perspective. I also love the v8 engine, but damn that torque on the M4
Is there also a comparison like this of the e90 M3 and the f80 M3, or did I miss it? I suppose it wouldn't be much different, other than weights and some dimensions...

Still loving E92 over F82 on exterior and performance. I would rather have screaming V8 rather than extra 100+torque with lower rev limit.

Your statement would be more accurate if it read, "Still loving the E92 over the F82 based on the exterior and motor attributes". If performance were a priority, you'd be hard pressed to choose an E9X M3 over an F8X.

Hated the Nav hump!!
I actually was looking to get a '13 M3 last spring before they went out of production. My main goal was to get one with a manual and no Nav, just because I hated the hump so much. I only had a few choices so I never could make a deal on one of the three that were available in the southwest. I absolutely wasn't going to get one with a hump. |

New to BMWs, but I'm this close to putting my deposit down for the M4. The M3 never seriously caught my eye until the E92, but then it really caught my attention with the F82. From my untrained eye, I never thought that the M3 looked much different from a 3-series sedan, until the E92 came out. Then, when I saw the M4, it just looked so much more angry and aggressive than other BMWs and even other cars in its class like the RS5 and C63 AMG. Add the twin turbo inline 6, and I was hooked. The E92 looks great and sounds even better, but the M4 just blows me away.
I have to say, however, that the rear bumper on the M4 is a little peculiar. I'm not a big fan. Anyone know if this is functional, or is it just part of the design? |
