I didn't lose 20k as I got the car at invoice, and from the first day I took delivery I knew that the color didn't fit the car well, which surprised me since I loved it so much on the E46. I kept looking at the car in various conditions, and after a while determined that the non-metallic paint was taking away from the aggressiveness (lines, curves) of the car since it didn't add shadows and highlights like a good metallic paint will, and it just didn't look right to me on the F80. This is why I put it up for sale so quickly. If I am not completely in love with a car of this price, then what's the point? So I spent plenty of time with AhsanU (a super great guy who took time out of his schedule twice to meet with me), see here:

I compared both cars with my brother and friend, and we all agreed that Atlantis is awesome, so I was sold. Since I love everything else about the F80 and really would like to own one, after reading so many positive reviews of the Competition Package, I also wanted that option on a car I keep, which my LSB did not have.

Let me clarify the reason for selling. Yes, it was sitting in the garage because I intended to sell it, but I wasn't going to discourage someone from buying by indicating my personal opinion on how LSB looks on the F80. There are others who own LSB F80s in this forum who are completely happy, so dissatisfaction with LSB on the F80 is merely my opinion, and it would be self defeating to explain this as the catalyst for selling in a classified advertisement that is designed to find a buyer. I would not want to keep a car that I am not completely happy with due to fear of losing some money, which is what prompted me to sell. This is the last year of the F80 and I am getting the exact one I want to keep, so I am very happy and excited.

Congrats on finally selling the car. At the rate that Atlantis Metallic cars are being ordered, I think the "new in color" is Laguna Seca Blue.

Truth be told is, it doesn't matter the color. As long as you the owner/buyer is happy then enjoy it. Tasteful mods regardless of the color will be admired. dubsesd could have modded a lemonade yellow M3 and everyone would be drooling over the same car. All it takes is time and a lot of money!

100% agree on this. I am a LSB fanboy and drooled over this post for the longest time, but I finally saw LSB on a F80 in person last week and it just didn't look right. I'm glad i'm not the only one.

It has to be because it's not metallic and doesn't reflect light to create the shadows and highlights that define the body lines and curves. The car just looks flat and lifeless in LSB compared to metallic colors. The body style was much different on the E46 M3 with less subtle styling cues so it wasn't an issue on that car.

Haha we are both nuts. I just ordered a couple weeks ago and my salesman is on vacation until next week, so no info on the production schedule yet. I would predict that the car will arrive no earlier than March. If you can hold off that long then we can see what Barry can do for us. Let's meet up sometime so I can see your awesome car, as I am experiencing withdrawal symptoms while I am without one!

I was being as optimistic as possible but it is likely that mine won't be here until April or May. Keeping my name as BringBackLSB is the best car ice breaker I can think of, as when people find out I have Atlantis they will naturally ask how could I choose such a name. That X3 should be very nice as well!

We do need to meet up for sure! I only have seen one M3 in the wild around here, a Silverstone M3 driving by on route 741 by St. Phillips Church. Every line and curve stood out as the car was driving by, and it just solidified my decision more to move to a metallic paint. I look forward to getting together and seeing you car.

I just saw it drive by once but am as close to 100% sure as I can be without an instant replay that it was an M3. Could have been someone driving through the area or visiting, as I only saw the car one time. I saw your thread earlier today, and congratulations on a stunning car! Paint looks fantastic.
