DCT immediate move at cold start hesitation / jerky
From the first time I tracked my F8x, the very next time it cooled off to room temp it started to take about 30 seconds for the transmission to move the car gently and if I try moving it immediately it will jerk/buck where as before it would not at any time. Again, jerky when moving immediately, smooth when letting it idle for ~30s. I have also changed to Redline DCTF and it still does it.
I have Bootmod3 GTS tune on it as well. Has anyone else experienced this? |

I’ve never had this happen to either my e92 M3s and f82 M4 DCTs. However, I did have something similar happen with my dedicated track e46 M3 SMG. I installed a lightweight flywheel and after the first track day, the SMG then had a hard time finding the friction point when engaging the clutch and would buck wildly initially moving forward or in reverse. Once moving, the SMG had no issues upshifting or downshifting at wot or light/partial throttle, no bucking, etc. I wonder if your DCT is having trouble when it initially tries engaging the clutch in 1st gear or I wonder if something happened to your clutches themselves? Have you tried resetting DCT adaptations? Is there a DCT learning program where it relearns the engagement point, etc?

I might try adaptations but that should not be needed. *maybe* for fluid change but this started with the first track event. I am thinking one of the valves internally are not actuating and that is the reason why I changed the fluid, that and track. Or now I am thinking I have low fluid or something. Just hope someone has had the issue here.

Pretty sure this is common, but particularly in the morning when it’s cold, I’ve found it’s the car sorting out from being in it’s locked park mode to driving. A work around has been to let the car warm up before driving and shift to “manual” first with the lowest shifting speed has removed that first jerk.

Reset your adaptations - that should help bring it back to baseline. GTS DCT should have instant clutch engagement (at least in my experience with it).

I have the same issue. It used to happen with my B8 S4 as well. I just learned to let the car run for a minute before moving and stopped thinking about it.

Mine does this too if I reverse out of the driveway too quickly from start. I also have the GTS tune and have gone to the track a few times.
How do you reset adaptations? |
