Most popular M3 comp pack manual mods?

It's looking like I will be the proud owner of a 2016 manual comp pack car w/ ceramic brakes!

I Turo'd an '18 comp pack dct car for a weekend, and test drove an M4 comp pack manual. It came down to deciding between a CS or a comp pack manual, and the manual won out.

What are the favorite mods to the car? I like to keep cars pretty stock and not too loud or wild in power over stock.

I wasn't a huge fan of the exhaust, and I'd like something that sounds a better, a little louder, but not super loud. The equal length midpipes and akrapovic exhausts sound interesting. I'd like to be able to turn it up or down w/ valves.

My understanding is that the 2016 cars don't have CarPlay or back up camera. I'd like to add those.

Is there anyting to improve shifter feel, without going super notchy with some type of short shift kit?

Crank hub issue; my understanding from reading is that it's not neccessary unless the car is tuned for higher HP? I might be interested in a little more HP if easy gained from a simple and safe tune..... Any other safety mods to consider?

Favorite tires? The tires are 5 years old, so I'll probably replace. Michelin 4s I've had great luck with on my other cars....

Thanks!
David

I found the shifter to be pretty spongy..... Do those things tighten it up?

The best mod for me was a proper suspension. I went with Öhlins coilovers with revised springrates. Also an eccentric caster control arm bushing made a huge difference for steering feel. A have a UUC short shift kit too which also was a nice upgrade. GTS bucket seats are another thing that really improves drivers feel.

In the ppi, my rear diff mounts showed wear and some leakage. Also, the oil level sensor was wet with oil. Are they pretty easy fixes? Is the sensor seepage a whole sensor change, or an O-ring? Any improved diff mounts, or best to replace with factory?

I don't know about the oil sensor, but BMW has a revised differential subframe mount. It is polyurethane instead, and was standard on all 2018+ F8x cars, if I am not mistaken.

How do you intend to use the car? If you think you want to track it I would look at a dual diff mount with poly bushings.

I plan to use it as a fun back roads car, some driving to work, something to share cars with my kids/wife that we all can ride in, but no track. It is replacing a 2020 Shelby GT350R. I have a race car and do some club racing.

Probably the new OEM poly bushing is just fine then. Not much more time to add the bracket and second bushing while you are there but some extra cost.

OEM CF rear diffuser, OEM alcantara shift knob, ebrake, and arm rest, Turner aluminum undertray, lightweight front lip spoiler, euro front bumper (or IND amber deletes), Eventuri CF V1/V2 intake, Charge Pipes, CSF intercooler, and Mishimoto oil cooler and catch can.

Not sure if all of these capture the "mods" category however, these are some I have lined up to install.

Looking to also get a BM3 at some point.

A few I considered and did not purchase: Wagner intercooler, dinan CAI, VRSF charge and mid-pipes

I went back and forth on a lot of these and you'll find a lot of differing opinions here which makes these cars fun and individual.

For tires I feel like Michelin Pilot Sport 4S* are sufficient for what you're describing, think they are also BMW-recommended.

Good link to a video on the tires:

Michelin Pilot 4S* vs. aftermarket

I ordered the IND M Performance shift knob and handbrake. The stock shifter has a funny feel to me being somewhat of an upside down triangle, so I thought the vertical shifter would be a better fit. The stitched alcantara looked really good, even though pricey.

I've read a lot of good things about the Autosolutions SSK, and will go with that I think.... I'll also look into the Turner shift bushings and Rogue transmission mounts.

I'd like to get a better and slightly louder exhaust note. I've watched some comparisons, and the I'm most interested in the Active Autowerke equal length mid pipe, using the stock down pipes and completion muffler. I found clips of the Akrapovic exhaust, and maybe it was just the videos, but I didn't think it sounded that great, espeically for the cost? I'll hold of on the short shifter until I decide on exhaust, since the midpipe has to come down. I know exhaust is wildly personal preference.... I want something that's a little louder, but not so loud as to wake the family up starting it up in the morning. I saw a video of someone with the AA setup, and they programmed out the burbles and the interior fake sound. That sounded pretty good to me......

I had the M Performance shift knob for a few year and recently switched back to the original. Feels better in my hand and isn't as comically tiny so it's closer to the steering wheel.

Also have the Autosolutions SSK, Ohlins R&T and Girodiscs. Don't need nor want anything else, tbh.
