How to relock the ECU when removing bootmod3

Hello all. New to me 2018 M4 will be arriving by truck on Monday. It currently has a BM3 OTS tune installed. The first thing I want to do when it comes off the truck is hook it to the charger, remove the tune, and relock the ECU. I have the bootbod3 app on my phone, an iphone lightning to ethernet adapter, and an ENET cable already so will be able to do this via the OBD port.

From what i understand I will be able to do this from my home. What i don't know are the steps. So I am preemptively asking HOW I would go about flashing back to the last OEM tune and re-locking the ECU. I am aware that the dealer will still be able to see if was flashed (And I'm not trying to hide that) but I want to relock it so that it is as it was prior to the tune. Thanks all.

Thanks Tom! I don't have the user manual and didn't know one existed so that works for me

Eric,

Do you have access to the BM3 account that did the flash? I believe that account has the "stock tune" file needed to restore the ECU to its base code.

I'm not sure but I can text the person who sold me the car to see if he has an account. It was done at a shop so i'm not sure if he had to create an account or not.

All BM3 users have an account. Owner should be able to retrieve it from the shop if he doesn't have login info.

OK thank you. I'll check on it. It's not a matter of just plugging it in and it recognizing the VIN I take it.

One more question all. I can't get the tuner to get me the info. It's only been since this morning so no big deal yet.

HOWEVER, I need to leave on a trip tomorrow morning and if nothing else I NEED to switch the map from the Stage 1 93 to the stock or stage 1 91ACN since I'm here in Phoenix and the vehicle was just dropped off from Dallas. Am I able to change to a stock or 91ACN map without the account?? I can always lock at a later time but I really don't want to drive on the 93 map. Thanks.

No, you need an account. Just stay out of boost while you figure it out, you’ll be fine.

Reach out to Pro Tuning Freaks and see if they can help, the license should be intact since the tune is still on the car.
