It looks like Ford is returning to a straight line monster with this Shelby go around. It is going to be really heavy. After my reliability/CS (lack of) experience with two GT350s I'm not ready get another Shelby anytime soon.

This seems more like the old school Mustang vs M3 comparisons. If you want handling, build quality and some luxury items go BMW. If you want a straight line speed monster and don't care about anything else than go with the GT500.

Will sound better than turbo 6 we know that. Probably only check over new G M3.

This is great...competition improves the breed. But this car is going after Hellcats. BMW M buyers will be cross shopping it against the already mentioned GT350

This car will beat the current GT350R on the track you can bet on that! Even with the weight it's going to be a beast in a straight line and on the track.

Looks great. Not sure I want one. I've already owned 2 GT350's and I am sure the interior is very similar with lots of cheap plastics.

Also, they should've offered a manual.

Probably north of 750 if I had to guess.

Agreed even the below comment is probably true as well.

I'm sure it probably will, but you can only hide that weight so much. And it comes down to if you like the fell of a car or are going after the fastest lap times. I loved the way my GT350 drove and with the suspension/wheel mods I was probably was faster in that than my current 18 ZCP M3. But, I could tell it was heavier than my M3 and I prefer lighter feeling cars. You can only hide the weight so much. With this thing coming in from what i've read around 4100-4200, that is a lot of weight gain. 300-400 pounds heavier than a GT350 and more than a current M3 of course. I hope those guesses are wrong and it is lighter. I'd still be surprised if it was lighter than 4000 lbs with a DCT and supercharger.

Also, the OP said against the G series M3/4 as well and I'm guessing that'll up the ante significantly in regards to the F80/82 obviously.

I could live with the cheap interior and even the misaligned panels/poor paint jobs/essentially really shitty build quality. It was the blown motors, excessive oil usage, drivers side rear axle boots continuing to break spewing grease everywhere etc etc I couldn't.

Most well taken care of gt350s have none of those problems including mine w/ 18000 track driven miles. There are always few oddballs that have issue.
Just like how few m3 owners have miserable problems after problems.
I do agree however w shit quality control on panelgaps and paint job.
And no, gt500 won’t be just straight line monster. They wouldn’t put on those heavy aero, if they were only concered about drag speed. Sure it’ll be heavy, but it will still punch out respectable lap times.

Sorry, not buying it. I lived it and am close to my Ford dealer and have heard other reports about well taken care of GT350s having a ton of problems. Both of mine were very well taken of like all of my cars.

Yes, BMWs can have trouble, but I’ll take a F80,82 over GT350s any day of the week when it comes to reliability etc. which sucks because I enjoyed driving my GT350s more than any of my M cars.

I already talked about laps times and how I feel about it on the track in previous posts.

The model line's "holy shit" car should turn just as well as the 350, probably do everything better except for sound.

My point was that the Hellcat was not a target for this car. The Hellcat is a one trick pony focused on straight line performance. This car is not.

Oh no, sorry to hear this! The GT350 really suffers from reliability problems? If you have a second would you mind detailing some of the issues you had with it, thanks a lot.

They're such beautiful cars and I've been seriously considering changing over to one once the warranty on my M4 goes out in June. It's either pop another $6k for a warranty, or roll that money + my car into a 2017-2018 GT350.

I don’t want to thread jack this thread anymore than I have. But, you can search my posts in the GT350 threads here and I strongly suggest going to Mustang6G to do some research. Especially the 70ish page blown/replaced motor thread. Otherwise PM me.
