Is this an update that one might get during a routine maintenance service? Or is it a large software update that they only do if there are major issues?

Can you always refuse a major software update?

you will receive it with the next time your car will be maintained.

Refusing the update is resulting in loss of waranty (europe)

"Unfortunately work is ongoing on this front. BMW March software update made a change to the portion of code that is making it currently not possible to unlock over OBD. This affects all flash tools out there not just bm3. We don't have an ETA on when it'll be resolved as work of this sort does take time. We can issue a full refund for the time being. Let us know how you'd like to proceed. Apologies for any inconvenience as you were the first with the S55 March 2019 update to come our way where root cause of you being unable to flash was identified."
So 2019+ M2C have to go piggyback
Only if it has the March software. My September build 2019 M2C doesn't and I'll not get a software update anytime soon.

How do you know this? Is there serve bulletin?
Normally they don't do updates unless there is a software issue.
As updates can take hours and sometimes causes other issues.

Dous not refuse your warranty, you have to ask in UK at dealers if an update is available, otherwise they tell you nothing.

I don’t think this is true. On my previous car I went in because oil was low. The car had an update available so they threw me a loaner and updated the software while I finished running errands. Technically, all I needed was a quart of oil. Also noticed software updates on the statement of work when going in for routine maintenance. I think it’s something they automatically do.

Bm3 just released a b58 tune.
Does this mean they've fix the new OEM update issue stated above?

If your M3/M4 is on a software version newer that what is on the BM3 server - it's simply added.

This happens when new software versions are released and usually taken care of instantly.

Update as of today, 4/9/19, they still do not have a solution on a way to crack my latest software in my F82.

Hope everyone had a nice Easter.

Still nothing from PTF.

This doesn't look good from a business stand point.

I'm sure PTF is not forcing anyone to stick around and wait for someone to crack the latest DME software version, so why not just ask them for a full refund?

AFAIK, no flash tuning solution has the means to unlock the March software version via OBD. OpenFlash claims to have a solution available, but they've been awfully quiet ever since being called out by a few forum members regarding other unrelated issues.

So bm3 and all others haven't found a workaround yet?
Can a vendor chime in?

Can anyone confirm what ISTEP we are talking about that has the dme issue? I flashed to 4.16.10 with esys not that long ago. Im curious if its possible to downgrade with esys if there is an issue with this version.

Here's PTF response from a month ago.
No updates.
Is this likely to be cracked soon?

So anyone that brings their car in for service may get their DME updated?

4.16.10 ISTA (and Pszdata) = 19-03-522 ISTEP.

ISTEP level 19-03-5xx seems to be what's causing issues. Not possible to downgrade that I'm aware of, we'll have to wait until PTF provides a solution - which shouldn't be much longer.

You can check your ISTEP level in VCM in esys. For example, If your car was updated recently at the dealer, it will be on 19-03-522 or 530, PTF can confirm if 522 or 530 ISTEP is causing the issue, since I haven't seen a 19-03-5xx version roll in yet.

See the included version/i-level chart for reference:

Hope this clears things up. Goes without saying, it's a good idea to hold off on any dealer visits if you want to keep your tune at the moment.

I have since given up on BM3 as Open Flash Performance with their tablet was able to get my M4 tuned.

I have nothing but fantastic things to say about Open Flash Performance and Anthony Cardinale who worked their butts off to finally get my car tuned the way I wanted. With my M4 being the guinea pig, they now have the ability to tune any F8X with the latest software.

Just crickets from BM3 / PTF since I last spoke to them 2 months ago.

Nothing yet.
Not sure why BM3 is the only tune that hasn't solved this.
The lack of updates or replies from PTF is not confidence inspiring and is hurting their brand.
I'm considering BPM.
