Downforce is tricky business.

Even Porsche 991.2 GT3 RS Has relatively low downforce compared to an actual race car.

Depends on which race car. It makes somewhere around 1000 pounds at 186mph, which is probably at or above most GT4 cars and around the downforce levels of the 991.1 Cup car.

GT3 cars are 1000kg or so, so a little under half as much downforce as those cars.

But 1000lbs at 186mph is a meaningful amount of downforce for a 3,000lb car. Now on our cars, the aero is certainly more for show than go, although it is at least functional.

Anecdotal as it gets --

gradual left at my home track, constant steering angle of 10 o'clock, taken flat through third & into fourth gear. Apex at ~100 mph then a slight drop in elevation. Cars tend to get floaty. GTS is the most planted I've experienced through there. (GTS is not the most planted I've ever experienced nearly everywhere else.) Wing and overall aero might be doing a little something.

GTS's 210 lbs. @ 183 mph is 997.2 GT3 territory.

Rough calculation is 2x speed = 4x downforce. So at 100 mph maybe 60 lbs.? Can't hurt.

Probably good for at least a few hundredths more lateral Gs - it's not nothing.

Per media when the car came out:

"the GTS develops nearly 62 pounds of downforce at the front and 205 pounds at the rear at 186 mph (or 26.5 pounds front, 88 pounds rear at 124 mph)"

"In its most aggressive position, the rear wing can provide 210 lbs of downforce at 183 mph. The front orange splitter can provide 63 lbs of downforce at 183 mph"

~273lbs of downforce within 5-10 pounds of what the 991.1 GT3 makes.

991.2 GT3 is claimed to make 155kg/340lbs, which is a claimed 20% improvement over the 991.1, so ~285lb for the 991.1.

Water injection system has been replaced, seems to be working now. They tested it and after you turn the car off you can see water moving through the tubes on the valve block. It felt stronger on the way home. Also, he updated all the software and it seems to have some new features on the dash?

Tbh, it could be placebo effect on my part as the car had no issues before and we just replaced the parts to get the newer -2 designation stuff in there.

I noticed a digital speedometer and some other details in the digital portion of the dash I hadn't seen before. I'll see if I have a before/after pic I can post. My guy there did say he updated all the programming to the very latest spec.

You can enable/disable those in I-drive.

I don't think there's anything new when they update the software... but you can get free idrive coded to the new one etc. I've had a guy do mine.

So I took the car to Texas Track Works today and they spent 3 hours going through the ride height, damper settings, and alignment with a fine toothed comb. It was definitely in track height and the damper settings were all messed up. The alignment showed incorrect readings all around too. I shadowed them throughout the process and it was really interesting to see all the hardware up close and all the minute adjustments they had to make. There is no way I could have done this at home, super happy I had pros handle it. I brought the supplemental manual and some brochures I had with press photos of the car as well. They set it all back to BMW factory spec (Public Road/Nurburgring settings), the ride height, dampers and alignment.

The car is transformed, this is the best thing I've done since I bought the car. It feels amazing now and so much better than it felt before. I had no idea it could be this good. The suspension now feels much more compliant, it doesn't quite breathe with the road (bad bumps still equal big thumps in the rear) but it feels like the suspension has a wider operating window and can work more effectively now. I'm also virtually unconcerned about scraping the splitter anymore. It's really hard to describe how much nicer it feels around town and at high speed. I also noticed it wasn't pulling to the right and I had a slight vibration at 120+ that's gone now too. It just feels factory fresh and not compromised for street use at all. I love this car. Highly recommend a professional geo.

It's not quite as high as the 2nd pic (suspension settled otw home) so last pic is more indicative of what it looks like now. I also just noticed one of my wife's cats must have gotten into their food lol.

Ya, last owner put them on for some reason. I’ll switch to PS4s when I burn these out. The lack of grip is actually pretty fun, rear end moves around a lot.
