the awd version will be quite a bit faster. its basically going to be the new GTR. except more ugly and better interior. i wont be surprised if you see them in the low 10s with bolt ons and in the 9s with pure turbos assuming the drivetrain can cope. not that i care because for a g80 awd comp + a bunch of mods you are nearing the 9 second model S plaid territory. The next model 3 performance is probably going to be stupid fast too, wouldn't be surprised if it beats the g80 everywhere aside from a roll. its honestly over for ICE engine guys who wanna stop light drag.

i'll be hanging on to my f80 to see how much this bubble rises. might sell for an lc500 or something in a year. quality of performance > quantity.

A lot of people will hold on to those E and f series for quite some time with the pig snout look is still out there. Personally I love the DCT tranny in this car and the G weird got ride of that too.

If faster, but also fatter too. Is it the new wannabe M5, possible, I'd rather have a M5 instead. With all the bolt on, you basically buying another car "P" future purchase as people will jump the bandwagon.

Exactly! The new car is an M5 copycat with an ugly buck toothed bumper.

This guy literally just DOWNGRADED cars

Is the new Alpina B3 based on the G80 or F80 powertrain?
https://www.alpina-automobiles.com/e...b3/highlights/

They even have a touring version. All wheel drive... seems like a better alternative to G80

At least Alpina kept the original looks and I would consider to purchase vs the buck tooth we have here.

Drove the M3,4,5,8 all back to back on track this weekend.

They are nothing like the M5. Still incredibly fun, dynamic cars. Which the M5 is not.

I mean I'd still like them to be a tad lighter and smaller, but they're an absolute blast on track.

Interesting article on. Jalopnik about M AWD cars are unnecessary:

https://jalopnik.com/bmws-m3-and-m4-...717839#replies

Takes the fun out of driving the car to its limits and the real driving experience.

How would you compare to F8x? I talk to a new G80 owner a couple weeks ago who still owns his F80. He said the G80 handling is night and day difference... so much more planted / stable. Much better driving experience at least on the road.

I am warming up to the G80. Not gonna lie. This despite the questionable front end.

Good video.
DCT and aesthetics go to the F82. That's worth trading 0.1 second imo in the quarter mile.

what an embarrassing performance by the G80. out braked by the 440i lol. i'd have to imagine braking performance will only be worse with the awd comp.

our friends in G80 land are not too happy. stating the F82 must have had a tune on it.

Denial and anger is the theme in that thread!

The F82 is not only much better looking but overall a better car. DCT and weight play a big role! The S58 is a better engine, specially if you are going to tune!

In terms of driving feel it's really just a slightly faster more refined F8x. They basically seem to have smoothed that aggressive/dangerous/harsh edge off a little without losing any of that sharp direct handling. It's still super fun to toss around corners, the turn-in is just as good as the F8x.

I only did maybe 4 laps on track (2x M4 and 2x M3), but I was immediately confident powering out of corners and getting the back end to step out a little. Even though we had to keep DSC on and the track was damp, it was letting me maintain some slip without killing the fun.

Sounds awesome in person too.

I really just wanted to keep lapping them all day Ah well, I satisfied that craving by taking my F82 for a trackday a few days later.

Still... hasn't made me crave an upgrade from my F82 as yet. Maybe in a few years when depreciation has brought their prices down. Or I'll just modify the F82 into more of a track toy and get something else to daily....

Do you think it might be due to the g80 running wider front tires than the f80?

Its been proven the F8X is under rated in power. Its really making around 475ish at the crank. G8X makes more power but weighs about 150 lbs more and you can see why both cars are very close.
