CF Roof Repair
Hey all. Just saw this small chip on the CF Roof. Right where the roof meets the windshield. Any recommendations how to make this look any better?
Thanks! Jason |

You could consider applying some resin over it to make it flush.

CF roof repair
I have 2015 M4 with CF roof. It has little pin holes all over the CF roof. It's bad news when water gets in. Also edges of CF is chipping in areas where no rocks could ever get to it. I think it's a clear coating problem from factory. Perhaps BMW had moisture problem when clear coating it. Who knows? Mine is out of warranty so I'm SOL. However found some two component clearcoat that may be a solution to dab in to pin holes and chips to stop further spread moisture between carbon fiber and clear coat and start flaking off.
If it works I will post it. |

This may sound eh , but fill correct the clear coat and maybe PPF to protect long run from moisture etc

Get the damaged clear out of there and I would do black touch up OR resin like another member posted to even it out and look like clear OR just do multiple clear coat layers over time and then polish

It's not a big chip. Picture makes it look way worse. Can't see it from 10 feet away. I am getting the car ceramic coated in 2 weeks so I've been in touch with the shop doing the work to see what they say. I doubt PPF would have prevented that. A rock or something hit it perfectly to cause that to happen. Oh well. |

Totally agree that PPF doesn't prevent these kinds of issues. I took a rock to the front bumper and it pierced the PPF and dented the bumper. I thought I could live with it but over time dirt and grime got in there and I couldn't take it anymore. With all other other little dents and divots, I had the bumper repainted but I had to pay for the PPF to be removed and then reinstalled. I've become dubious of the value in investing in PPF when its just a very thin film of plastic that does little to protect from chips.

Not bad at all considering other alternatives , just imagine if you did spring for something expensive…. And then something else damaged the roof again…. I just had a nasty dent in my hood (from a huge rock on the highway here in NJ) and luckily my PDR guy made magic happen. Me personally I have accepted nasty damage will happen
