replace pad warning
Haven’t had my F80 for that long. Use has been as a daily and it looks like I’m in for at least a set of pads at 34,000 miles.
With the f80 at these intervals ( assuming road car ) do you also replace rotors or do the rotors last longer? Car has standard m3/m3 brakes rather than ceramic rotors and will replace with BMW parts.. |

Based on my experience with the f80 the rotors should last a good bit longer. 34k seems early to need to replace the stock pads, but it will depend greatly on the previous owner’s usage (assuming you are the second owner).
By the way, brake pad changes on the f80 are super easy if you are so inclined. |

Might be worth a peak to see if the pad wear sensors have been damaged. It’s possible a wire was cut prematurely causing the warning.

Thanks , will check wiring as well. Come to think of it I did run over a large section of freshly laid stone chip seal in the last week. Make have picked up a stone.

I replaced mine after 32k miles.
I live in a city that is all stop signs and red lights so the 32k was a lot of street driving. They were worn pretty low. I was driven to change based on desire for lower brake dust. Akebonos. I have been super delighted, no squeals, stock pads were making noise, and virtually zero dust. It’s amazing and welcome on the 666m wheels. After watching a few YouTube’s I was able to change them myself in about 2 hours. Next week will flush brake lines myself. So much fun wrenching in the car.

I went with BMW OEM as easy to get in NZ.
Don’t have a much aftermarket choice unless going somewhere like full out AP / Alcon race brakes . I think I’ve put up with BMW pad dust for a few decades now. Can be considered to be a slow learner by some 😀 |

I also replaced my brake pads around ~33K miles. I kept my original rotors though since they were still good. I just slapped in new brake pads and brake sensors and I was good.
