F82 - Dashcam Hardwire Fuse (Permanent live)

Hey all,

tldr: which permanent live fuse should I tap into for a dashcam?

I’ve recently bought a 2017 M4 (F82). I hardwired a Nextbase 622GW dashcam with the rear window camera and had a fuse tap on the 12V cigarette lighter fuse.

A few weeks ago the dashcam stopped recording and asked me to format the SD card but it displayed an error when I tried to do it directly on the dashcam, I tried putting the SD card into a PC but it wouldn’t recognise the card.

Quick phone call to Nextbase who advised the SD card was corrupted as I was using parking mode while it was connected to a switched live - whoops. But they were nice enough to send a new SD card and advised I change the hardwire kit to a permanent live or it’ll happen again.

I believe fuse 103/104 (diagram attached) is for the alarm system and is a permanent live. But I’m not sure if I should tap into that as I don’t want any issues with the alarm system/car.

Does anyone know which permanently live fuse would be best to tap into?

^ Good thread to refer to.

I've commented on there; I personally used Fuse 143, but be sure to use the appropriate fuse rated for your device(s).

I’ve gone with fuse 161 for now as I’ve misplaced my smaller fuse taps. Seems to be working okay so far but I’ll keep an eye on things
