Cleaning M4 Footrest

My new M4 has some sticky grime that won't come off the footrest. Anyone have any cleaning tips?

It also feels like the stainless steel is covered by a plastic wrap that doesn't peel off easily. Is this something I need to remove?

Here is a pic.

Maybe the wrap is still there. Peel it off!

Energene or Guardsman dry cleaning fluid is available in a small can in hardware stores. It’s a great adhesive solvent and works really well for sticky stuff. Just a little on a cloth will do you. Careful not to get it sopping wet.

My film was blue too.

after delivery I left the film on my dead pedal for almost 2 months. When I leaned in there to remove the film it looked just like that picture of your pedal. So that's what I think it is: the factory applied film.

How did you get it off? mine is stuck on pretty well. Especially around the sides.

Took a while with fingernail scratching to get one corner to lift, but once you get it started the rest comes off in one piece pretty easily. If you can't get it started you might try hair dryer to soften it up.
I removed the film from the sills on the first day and that just lifted right off and peeled away. Guess I left the dead pedal film on too long.
