You'll be fine. The 295s also fit happily

Will it fit? I'm a bit concerned. Should I tell my installer to ditch the helper and/or have him quickly order a 5" spring? Or should I order a 22.5mm spacer.
Ooohhh nice... congrats
Hope everything fits to your needs!

well

got the set of apex ec7 wheels (18x10.5 ET40 square) delivered and had 285/30 tyres mounted today...unfortunately, the tyre is rubbing on the front damper shaft (not spring perch).

Tried several spacers and I would have to move up to a 25mm spacer in order to make this work, however, the 90mm studs would be at the border line.

I am assuming ET22 is the correct option, but would still require a 5mm spacer up front. I have an email into Apex to see if they can help resolve the issue.

Pretty odd. The GTSs have specific fitment due to their unique kingpin/knuckle, but on the CS I ran many sets of 285/30 and 295/30 tires on 10.5 ET36 wheels with a 15mm spacer. That is equivalent to ET40 with a 19mm spacer.

ET22 is no good, you'll just swap your front issue for the rear.

I believe a 90mm stud works with a 25mm spacer, but I'd have to call BW or someone to verify
Don't be afraid of big spacers. The M4 GT4, M2 CSR etc have up to 41mm spacers. All with M14 hardware

20 and 25mm

with 20mm, the 285 tyre (very slightly) rubs on the damper shaft. (ideally, 22mm could work)

with 25mm, no rubbing issues...however, just trying to sort through the length of the 90mm stud. it seems that I am right at the edge of the thread.

I may try 22 or 22.5mm spacer...it seems that shirmer has a 22mm option. going to order and try that.

I guess I'll have to order up 25mm spacers. I just bought 20mm ones with 94mm studs which fit fine now at 3.5 neg camber on et29 winter wheels. If I'm good with et29 should I be fine with my new et40 track wheels?

I don't know anything about this wheel stuff besides what shadowgod tells us.

In theory your camber shouldn't affect the wheel to shaft interference at all.

I've heard of people cough stacking a 2mm spacer cough onto a 20mm but I'd prefer not to do that.
It is a little annoying spacers go from 20 all the way to 25

I still don't understand why you have rubbing. I've run friggin wide tires in my CS, 285 R1S are sooo wide, and 295 R7 aren't exactly narrow

damn you guys are running a lot of camber! I hope you're running proper toe out.

Offsets are a PITA to understand.
Let's take my ET36 wheel. It wants a 15mm spacer up front to be happy, meaning that effective offset is 36-15=21.
So if you have a ET40 wheel and run a 20mm spacer, that's effectively ET20.
Technically 1mm more to the 'outside' of the car than my setup, so if the issue was wheel or tire clearance vs the shaft, this setup should have 1mm more space between those components.

Your ET29 winter wheels won't be a good comparison.

Wish you guys had bought ET36 wheels!

Drive up this Saturday and you can mount my 295 R7s on the ET36 wheels! See if they fit

I can't seem to find a 22.5 or 25mm spacer for sale on line. It might be time for a spacer pancake *cough*. Anyone want to buy a new set of satin black VS-5RS 18x10.5" ET40 wheels with new Yoko A052 295/30 tires with TMPS installed? They will look pretty sitting in your garage.

I'm glad I kept my staggered EC7's wheels as a back-up.

I think there's something off here like Shadow says.

I haven't had tires mounted on my VS-5RS yet, plan to next week, and at that point I'll toss those on the car along with the staggered EC7 and see if either/both option work.

Hopefully the new 10.5 et 40 setup works. I do have 5mm spacers to toss over these 20mm spacers as a test as well.
Apex only selling 20mm max spacers is also funny.

Here's info from Apexes fitment guide:

Wheels
Front & Rear: 18x10.5" ET40
Available in: ARC-8R, EC-7R, EC-7RS, FL-5, VS-5RS
Adjustable camber plates required
18-25mm front spacers required depending on tire size/model & suspension configuration
Motorsport-oriented coilovers with a slim spring silhouette and favorable lower spring perch location required
Tires

APEX Staff Pick: Front & Rear 295/30-18 tires
A minimum of -3º of camber is required up front, rear is direct fit

Bimmerworld has 25mm spacers fyi.

Although are these usable with studs?

Besides all the sets of TA5Rs in 10.5 ET36, I have a set of boat anchors, I mean EC7 wheels, in 19 10.5ET40.
I've never run those boat anchors in the CS, only in the GTS, and they fit fine. That said, the GTS is a poor indicator of regular F8X fitment as its knuckle/kingpin provides more space between the wheel and the strut

I don't think either of those are. Those are a very civilized way to increase the track width more or less permanently. You'd have to mount the studs to the spacer.

BMW Motorsport uses a 41mm spacer that looks like the regular 12-15-20mm ones and they use a 14mm screw in stud, so it clearly works. The aftermarket doesn't make many of those.

I bet a 25mm spacer can be shaved to 22-23mm if desired by any half competent machine shop

quick update...

I am going to upgrade the studs, I use MSI studs and their part number 22.21 increases the useable thread pitch by 10mm. This will be plenty to accommodate a 25mm spacer safely with no issues...

PS, I am using Millway spacers. Must say, these seem to be the best, lightest weight spacers I have used/seen. And they ship fast, 3-4 days all the way from Sweden to CA.
