Test fitted my 18x10.5 et37 wheels, 15mm spacers, with 295/30/18 cup 2. MCS single adjustable standard Bimmerworld spring set up, 6" 600# with helper springs. My car isn't too low, based on my reading I was pretty sure it'll fit. However that was not the case, there's maybe 1-2mm space between the tire and the spring perch, I'm not comfortable running that. Car is up, wheel unloaded in these pics. Looks like will need a 18mm or 20mm spacer.

Et36 or et37? A few mm is all it takes, but if you're more comfortable adding spacer, it won't hurt

et37. 15mm spacer so effective et22. Going up to 18mm spacer technically is the same as my current set up (18x10 et25), but I suppose going to a 20mm is "safer" and allows more breathing room (varying tire shoulder shape, etc). How much does a tire deflect/deform anyway, is there any real world data out there?

And yes, the wheel well and suspension bits are dirty. It just got retired from daily duty.

A couple mm is fine. You can easily see if the tire is rubbing the perch by removing the wheel, it'll dust up the perch and the tire will also have a mark.

I think you're OK, although you have 1mm less than I usually have. But I definitely would not use a 20 if you already clear

Here's a better pic, maybe a touch more room than I thought.

Buy a 18mm and see if your current setup rubs. It's not like a tire pops because it rubs 3 times

Looks like BW carries 15 and 20. I've been using their bolts and spacers so might just go that route.

Sorry to use your post OP, but I had a similar clearance question only with MP HAS and 285/35-18 RS-4’s mounted on 18X10 et 25 wheels. The picture is with a 5mm spacer. I tried a 10mm, but it rubs on the fender liner when turning the steering wheel. Do you guys think this is enough clearance for the track? Thanks

I envy your picture taking abilities. Honestly in those pics it looks like it has a couple more mm clearance than I do, which I think will be fine.

Thank you! I bought the 7.5mm spacers just in case, but they might not arrive on time for my first track outing. Your setup should be awesome once you dial it in.

Are you guys rubbing on the wheel liners when turning or even clearing that? Or did you heat gun massage them?

edit: got off my ass and test fitted the set up (18x10.5 et37 + 15mm spacer, 295/30/18 cup2) on the passenger side for the hell of it. Even less space, spring perch touching tire. 5mm of additional spacing should be good strut side, not sure fender side, I'm at -2.5 camber. I could also raise up the front a bit to get the perch above the fattest part of the tire shoulder, however the car isn't low as is.

since you asked, this is the car w/ same wheels except a bit skinnier, 18x10 et25 275/35/18 RS4. Those geese came and pooped on my driveway and hissed at me for food.

There is always some level of rubbing on the liners. The shorter the tire the better

Tested fitted 20mm spacers, pics for reference. Again these are 18x10.5 et 37 with 20mm spacers front, 295/30/18 cup2s, standard Bimmerworld/MCS set up with 6" front springs and helpers, -2.5 camber front. Looks to be plenty of room in front fender area too, hopefully won't rub.

Plenty of room, 18mm spacers probably would've been okay too.

Finally got them mounted! TA5Rs in 10.5et36 and used a 20mm spacer in front. Running 285/35 square RS4s. Clears fine, no rubbing; stoked to get some time on these tomorrow.

Tirerack has a $110 instant discount on a set of RE71RS, so I'm pondering picking a set up for use later. The tire comes in both 275/35/18 (tirerack treadwidth 10") and 295/30/18 (tirerack treadwidth 10.8"), price difference is insignificant.

Since it's not realistic for me to do empirical testing, anyone with input on going for a slight stretch with 275/35/18 on 10.5" wheel width or go for some "more" tire with 295/30? I know conventional wisdom is to have some "preload" but it seems like in practice more tire is faster. Thoughts?

I've run many 275 re71 on 10.5 wheels, they will well. I think you can also fit the 295 onto the 10.5 wheel happily

285/30 is cheaper and it also works on 10.5 wheel
