Hi Everyone,

Can someone help me analyze a few logs? (first time datalogging.) My girlfriend helped me datalog, so not sure if she clicked at the right times either.

Is car running lean with these mods? Is anything wrong with these logs?

Car is a 2016 DCT M4.

Mods:
BM3 Stage 1 93 octane tune
BM3 GTS Transmission Flash
AA Catless downpipes
AFE Magnum Force Intake (heatshield box) with dry filters (no oil)
NGK 95706 Plugs

Dude, your timing is off in cylinders 1-4-6. Is it a possibility that you got crappy gas? If yes, you can add a half-gallon E85 for every 5 gallons of 93 in your tank now. This will increase your octane by having 17% ethanol (I have run up to 20% E on the OTS Stage 2).

I'm a guy who usually pulls out the spark plugs and see's what's going on. A wrong set of plug gaps would whack the timing too, and the extra octane from added E won't change bad gaps on your logs. Gaps should be 0.021in to 0.025in for Stage 1 or 2 boost. Gap of 0.021in is for custom E85 tunes (stock plugs or NGK B8S). Gap of 0.018in is only for very high boost where your tuner tells you to. I push 27PSI with stock turbos on E85 and haven't needed 18 gaps yet.

You're also revving way too high. Try setting auto-logging to trigger at 80% pedal.

Start out in Sport+ with DCT fully off (hold that button), roll out easy to 2500RPM in third gear, floor it (if your rear kicks out just back off if inexperienced, or feather the pedal if you know how, otherwise) ride 3rd to 6500RPM and shift to 4th, ride that up to 6500RPM and (if things sound/feel okay) shift into 5th, still full pedal in 5th up to 6500RPM, and pedal up. Brake in 5sec on-off-on-off (so you don't smoke your brakes).

Interesting. Are 1/4/6 related somehow? Could this be intake-related? That's my newest mod. I can get e85. Could be bad gas though. I'm in south florida, where decent 93 is pretty abundant.

I got new 95706 plugs by my mechanic recently—dont think they were gapped at all.

Bump.

Can anyone else advise? I now know logs aren't the best and that traction was still on.

Would my new intake affect timing? Or would that be AFR/boost? Those look good though, right?

I don't have any previous logs to compare this to. Or is it most likely bad gas/not gapping my plugs?

That'll do it. Out of the box most NGKs come gapped wide at 28-32 so the mechanic can easily size-down to the desired gap.

Since you mention a new intake did you click "reset adaptations" in the BM3 diagnostics page?

I'll bet a Christmas cookie it's plugs.

Yes, i did!

And that's the thing— the intake actually feels like the car runs well.

I hope it's the damn plugs. What did you say that i'm supposed to gap them to? .022?

Yep, it's 0.022" plug gap.

If the problem was the intake you would get MAF error codes.

None there at all!

I reached out to my mechanic and PTF. PTF simply said it was crappy gas. I'm thinking of mixing one gallon of E85 as you mentioned on a previous thread.

My mechanic, however, did make a good point. He said that i'm on stage 1, which is made to run on stock hardware on stock plugs/gap.

Not saying that the gap isn't screwing it all up, but his point seems logical!

Have your mechanic look at this from PTF:

0.022-0.023"...straight from Dzenan.
