Blendmount mirror tap wiring 2018 M4

Hello collective Hive,

Could anyone definitively let me know which connections to tap into for the mirror tap please? I’d hate to but a multimeter which I’d only use once for 1 minute for this purpose.

So far from researching, I’ve come across:

Connecting red wire to red/white stripe
Black wire to brown wire

Or

Green/white stripe (I’m asuming to red)
Black to brown (ground)

Or

Green/brown (12v)
Brown is ground.

Any help is appreciated,
Beansy.

I used the same wires and works perfectly.

Beansy, How easy was it to pry off the two plastic covers to get access to the wiring harness? Mine seem quite solid, and I’m not keen on breaking them.

Hi,

Actually very easy to do so. If you watch the above video, he shows you how to do it by hand.

Thanks. Yeah, saw that video but when I tried it was quite stiff. Might just have to some muscle into it like Tommy!

Question

I just came across this video and, Jon is connecting to the small red socket. (Refer to 4:01 seconds) as opposed to the Black one that Tommy used.

Just want to make sure I am not draining the car battery.

Does it matter here? Is it different for 2020 models vs previous years? Sharing pictures of my mirror unit for reference.

Thanks for any help!
