Another question for people who got aftermarket system. Is there a way to adjust the sound since there's no equalizer on iDrive ?

I was at Musicar yesterday and did spend some time with Nick, great guy by the way. I am in a similar situation as I want to improve the sound in my F83.

To answer your question, he suggested I install a JL Audio Fix D8 as a sound processor. You can have up to 6 pre-programmed sound curves and change them with a push of a knob. I have a Fix 86 (same functionality as a D8 - only the inputs are different) in my Ford pickup and I only use 3 of the pre-programmed curves and it is pretty awesome to switch between them.

As far as what Nick recommended to me is to change out door speakers and the underseat midrange woofers, a new amp, (in my case fiber optic converter due to Harmon Kardan), leave the rears as they are as they don't add much to the value of the sound in the cabin and disconnect the center channel.

I can add a sub and another amp later as budget allows.

They are still waiting for Bmw approval, I asked for 5k as compensation and extended warranty.
Let's see.
I told them I will upgrade the system later when the car is older. Perhaps next year.

UPDATE:

BMW is giving $2500 cash and dealership throwing in another $1500 so $4000 compensation to me. I didn't want to take more money from dealership (it's not their fault)
And 3 year extended warranty offered at half price at $2000 do you guys think it's worth it ?

This dealership been great to me for the last 10 years or so. I guess time to close this issue and move on.

I will upgrade sound on my own perhaps next year but for now I'm getting XPEL installed on the front half of the car. Full Hood, front bumper, headlights, fenders and mirrors.

I think it's a great deal! I'd certainly take it.

Isn't your car leased? Are you planning on keeping it after the lease is over? Trying to understand the rationale for the extended warranty

Yes the plan is to buy it out and keep it for longer. Next Gen wont be hardtop so this one is a keeper.
I don't drive this much so chances are it will have low mileage.

That might be the plan, but that’s a $2,000 risk. I would get that price in writing and guaranteed for 2.5 years. Then, if your plan hatched, go for it. Otherwise, it’s a risk.

You're absolutely right, they suggested the same thing. Price difference between buying ext warranty now or buying in the 4th year is around $120 extra. Their recommendation was also to wait until I'm sure of buying the car out.
Only thing, there's always a chance BMW might change their ext warranty coverage/plan.
Either way I'm waiting for a while before moving ahead with ext warranty, price is locked in plus little extra depends when I buy it.

I already got my check for compensation two weeks ago so it's all settled.

Car is almost finished getting full Xpel and interior ceramic coating.

Great to see all worked out. I would not spend one dollar on a sound system upgrade for any make/model convertible. Once you drop the top, all OEM sound systems have the audio qualtiy of a 65 Buick with a Delco radio.

Completely agree Manny. The only thing I might do is replace the AMP if I get a good deal for it. That should be fairly easy to do.

I was told the CS versions come with HiFi systems instead of HK to save weight so it's ok to not have HK I guess.

Here are facts:
1. The M4CS comes standard with the hi-fi stereo.
2. I've seen no M4CS cars with HK

Here is what I believe
1. I don't think you could even option the HK stereo on the M4CS in North America.
