The HK Speakers are very good, the equalizer system, etc is all very good so long as you know how to set the correct settings
It blows the standard sound system out of the water. Go to your dealer, guaranteed they will have a car with HK in stock, go listen for yourself. I'd give the system a solid 7.5 - 8.5 out of 10. A 10 is the B&O system in the M5

Harmon Kardon Sound System - Sounds Good Enough?
OP, I found the system to be adequate enough for my untrained ears. I am most certain my ignorance of sound quality has allowed me to truly enjoy the results of the HK upgrade.
I have found the additional speakers, sub woofers, tweeters to be a visual delight to the eyes. It is very cool to clean under the seat and see the rarely seen sub-woofers waiting in silent anticipation of my music selection. The speakers in general are pleasing to look at in all locations. I have noticed what appear to be super tweeters, in the head liner pod where the front over head lights reside. I honestly do not know what they are, but they are there, even when I listen I cannot tell if that is what they are, I will assume they are not, since they are indiscernible to my ignorant ears. If I were you OP, I would click the box. Regardless to what you do, enjoy the drive, this car is better than awesome, it is an ultimate driving machine. Drive it well.

The Microphone for Commands Trick!!!!
I thought the Bluetooth microphone was the unit above the sun visor, as a stand alone item. You get a second one, over the front passenger with advanced Bluetooth package. So the voice commands microphone(s) are in the pod? All righty then!! See you learn something new everyday.

The HK is good for what it is, 7.85... could it be better yes but at what price. The HK is the same system that you can upgrade to on the 328i. I think if you added in some dynomat it would sound better. But again its personal taste. But as others have said its well worth the price |

I'd love to hear others input on this. I'm just starting to learn about this stuff, and I wouldn't know how to troubleshoot the actual speaker. |

I personally am very disappointed by it. I have a 17 M3 and want to install a gladen 3 way set up in the front and my 2 orion hcca 10's in the trunk.
I'm just not sure what the best way to integrate into the HK system. I was hoping to use one of Technic's harnesses but it seems he's not active anymore. I'll be starting a new thread as soon as I get authorized... |

I liked my HK system 'as-was' in its original state well enough, but I liked it much better once I added the MusicarNW "Full Bass Level 3" system to the car (which also powers the stock-for-now underseat woofers).
I have the first gen of the enclosure, which doesn't involve removing the driver to bolt the box in-place, but instead relies on 3M Dual Lock, which didn't stand up to the g-forces the M4 can generate. Solved that with some CF tubing from the sub-scale department at my last company, which makes 30-second tool-less removal of the loaded enclosure at the track a breeze: I always thought the Logic7 DSP was garbage, and so once I realized that coding the amp to run in B&O DSP mode was possible, that's been the cherry on top for me (as the "Expanded" DSP mode far surpasses the Logic7 DSP, in my opinion). |
