Im not getting the envelop icon at the top of the screen, just displayed when I go to messages. Then you can see all 3 empty envelops.

Try removing the pairing on both the iPhone and at the iDrive then follow the steps already listed before... it should work.

Sorry for the grave digging. I would rather bump this than start a new one.

I've tried everything to no avail. I've deleted each other on both car and phone and no "show notifications" on my iPhone anywhere.

Help?

Related question: how do you delete phone pairings from iDrive? I haven't been able to figure this out, and I'm trying to remove my old phones from memory after upgrading to a new phone.

alright..figured out why I couldn't get the "Show notifications" option to show up on my Iphone under in BT settings...

here's what I did:

via iDrive:

Settings>Connections>Bluetooth

Highlight your device that is connected then push the iDrive controller Right

Highlight configure Bluetooth and depress/push down iDrive controller

Select "Office"

from there, check your iPhone BT settings under your vehicle and you should see "Show Notifications"

see attched photos for further reference...

I don't even see that option on MY2015 F82. Is everyone seeing that?! Does the device have to be "Phone 1"?

Hey guys, I was able to do everything geneatals post, but I'm still not able to receive text messages. I checked BT compatibility on BMW's website, but it seems the only Apple product that works is an iPod touch via Verizon :/

This is super lame. Anyone else in the same bucket as me?

So I have my SMS working which is great.......I get new message icon on the CIC when I get an SMS.
However, is there a way to get an audible tone as well (as I sometimes miss seeing the new message icon)
Cheers

You can leave the phone volume on so you hear the tone on the phone. Not sure about any way of getting the tone to cut in via Bluetooth.

I kept the volume on but the phone doesn't make a sound when connected.
It rings through the stereo but not when you get an SMS

Wow thanks a lot! Mine was working just fine when I first got the car and then it suddenly quit after everything was reset for the recall on the dash backlights... turned out it was the show notifications on my phone... I've been troubleshooting my car for weeks and it was my phone that was the problem.
