PPF & Ceramic Coating

Hey guys,

Picked up a SBM 2020 F83, with almost no dings or scratches which is why I really want maintain the paint and the new look.

Looking for recommendations for a shop to install PPF and Ceramic Coating in Long Beach / OC area preferably.

I'm also seeking product recommendations since there are tons out there in the market.

Based on my research I see Suntek for PPF, Modesta Ceramic Coating. Also found Eric from Envious Detail highly recommended. But after my first consultation looks like he doesn't carry Modesta any longer since he has his own product line. He used to carry Modesta years back.

Appreciate all the help!

I have STEK hudrophobic PPF on my whole car. It's amazing. 10 year warranty too. I can strongly recommend it. I also wrapped the headlights and inside the door openings.

These videos are quite helpful. A lot of the claims of PPF and coating are exaggerated - plain and simple, esp on DD'd cars. I have full PPF'd and coated car - it certainly helps with the chip avoidance but much of the coating on the PPF doesn't work nearly as well as you'd think now that it's a few years out. I refresh the hydrophobicity of it with Gyeon WetCoat frequently after washes.

These videos hopefully can help beyond the anecdotal "I have this film and coating and I love it"

Super helpful man! Seems like at the end of the day most of these brands will give up over time.

Looks good! What made you go with STEK vs other brands? Who did you go with for installation?

Did you have any issues with PPF on your carbon fiber hood? I'm hearing that because the underside is not painted, the PPF goes to just the edges instead of being wrapped fully around. Also some issues because the carbon fiber hood has many ridges and dips on the edges of the hood.

No, it sticks to it very godd actually. It's wrapped around the edge about 1/2" which makes it stick good and not just a short bend at the edge.
It depends a lot on the wrapper, how he prepares the hood with cleaning solvent, maybe some heat to really make it stick good. I wrapped my headlights too with the same ppf.

Sorry for late answer! It was the recommendation from my friends who owns the wrapping company. They said it is the best they have worked with. Very good self healing properties, stretchable and long time warranty and never gets yellow of sunlight as it isn't UV protective. That eliminates colour differences if a panel isn't wrapped next to a wrapped panel.
