Hi,
I must have miss something. Can someone explain me if there's any difference between a F82 4 series and a F32 3 series ? Or will BMW only produce the F82 and therefore no F32 ? V1. EDIT : Found this : 'The F80/F82 are M designations for the M3/M4. F80 is the M3 Sedan and the F82 is the M4 Coupe. They no longer share the same chassis number as the regular BMW cars.' (Rated ///M) But does that mean that the M3 series coupé will be the only 4 series model ? And other coupes will be badged in the 3 series ? This is confusing. For years BMW was always in the leaders' front row in therms of inovation, evolution...Yes, good or bad, turbocharged engines are the future and by looking at BMW...the majority of the cars will share this kind of technology. On the other hand I do not agree with BMW's recent approach regarding their //M division...(slapping the //M badge on "almost but not quite" //M cars). Personally when I heared //M I imagined the dark'n'scary part of BMW. But with this approach it kinda softens it... Oh...and 1 more point: SAVE THE STICK !! |

i truly hate that they do this. they come out with a regular version then make the Lci version when they could just come out with an Lci version from the start. what a way to get people to spend money.

Lovely render, and more so with the power dome. E46 came had that despite an IL6, and that stands out from the non-Ms in the series.
Hope they are not using the 1M front bumper. I suppose for the M3 Sedan, the bumper design will be similar to that of the F30 M-sport. |

This will be the potential 3-series / 4-series lineup, assuming BMW rebadges 3 series coupes/convertibles to the "4 Series" (which is looking likely): 3 Series Sedan (F30) 3 Series Sedan LWB (F35) 3 Series Touring (F31) 3 Series GT (F34) M3 Sedan (F80) 4 Series Coupe (F32) 4 Series Convertible (F33) 4 Series Gran Coupe (F36) M4 Coupe (F82)

are they really going to let go of the old tradition known as the M3 coupe and now call it M4?! I'm just really having a hard time stomaching that.

so, if the M3 starts pushing 80K loaded (which I don't think it will be), will the M4 GC push 90K? that's down right lunacy.

Yes, because the old tradition of the M3 Coupé is to have high-revving naturally aspirated engine, but the new car will have a low-revving turbocharged engine. It would be a blasphemy to call it M3.
