I totally agree. For months I've said between 440 and 460 ps. Lowest I could possibly imagine is 430ps which is 424bhp, but common logic indicates more.

As for Comp packages now offering more power, it's a pretty tacky thing for BMW to do unless owners of the the non-comp models can retrofit the power bump for a small fee.

There is no Competition Package coming. You'll have to wait till facelift for that. It is not like AMG. And Competition Package isn't worth the moeny. You can get better thanks to aftermarket.

NO ... sad to they, but you are wrong!

Motor data sheets that are probably already been sent to some premium customers in Germany, unfortunately, confirm exactly the power that has already been made known here by the VIN -> 310 KW = 415hp = 421PS

The new F80M3 generates its superior performance one and only from the low weight and significant improvements in the chassis!

You contradicted yourself there. I think it's almost certain a competition package will be added at some point if not right away. You think M6 won't get it until its LCI too? I doubt that. BMW will release it when it is prudent, which could be at any time for the M6, and for the M3 and M4 as well.

It depends entirely on your goals.

But, I do think that putting CCB in the package would kill it for many. I don't think they'll do that for the US cars. Could remain optional everywhere in fact.

We've already discussed that same effect but with respect to power-to-weight which is the more telling number. The F8x is going on a diet, and hence need not have as big a power increase to see an increase in performance. It does not mean it won't get a power increase, just that its premature to assume things - we know almost nothing about the chassis still. Hopefully that changes after M-Fest next month.

Ehh... F30 was suppose to be 150lb lighter than E90 and that never happened. Chassis got better, but weight loss was insignficant.

For the sake of argument I won't disagree. But remember, we don't know anything specific about the F8x chassis yet. What we do know is that it is not just another name for the F3x chassis. E46 M3 weight is rumored to be the target for the car.

At this point, I figure a 3700lb+ F80 M3 with a 465hp engine is all but totally out of the question. We should know soon.

I hope so...

Personally, I would much rather have 3400-3500lb with 414hp than 3700lb with 465hp.

But it is lighter.........and F3x went back to steel suspension parts, has more equipment and bigger wheels than e9x

Yet is stiffer and a bigger car.....well done BMW

You state this as if it's fact, while in reality it's just your opinion.

What about 1.480kg = 3.265lbs and 310KW = 415hp = 421PS for an standard trim F80 without extras (but also without CCBs!) ... and later (LCI?) with the Competition-Package ~320KW !!!???

I donīt state this as if itīs fact ... but its also not simply my opinion! These numbers are rumored by the leaked VIN and should be quoted in detail in Motor data sheets, that some premium buyers had seen.
And also an NOS time of 30sec faster than the previous M3 should be confirmed by an famous race driver !

They have already proven that out with the 220hp 3 cylinder that is going i8 car. This would mean that using standard components from this new modular platform, BMW should easily be able to build a ~450hp 3.0L I6 engine. Why heavily modify the outgoing version when a newer, more efficient, more powerful, and presumably cheaper alternative is readily apparent?
Agreed: doesn't make any sense unless a later Comp Pkg is tuned to higher hp.
