Problems playing m4a files via USB?
I just dumped about 600mb of music onto a 1TB drive. A few of them are mp3s, but the majority are m4as. iDrive seems to have no difficulty indexing all the files, but many of them come up as invalid file type on playback. Other m4as play back without difficulty. Any idea why?

Good point. I'm pretty sure that the majority of these are Apple lossless files.
Before I start recoding everything, does anyone know what file types are compatible, other than mp3? |

I do not generally like formats with lossless or lossy compression (i.e., FLAC, ALAC, MPEG and the like) on my home system, so I have not tried those.
