Can't defend on this topic. Camaro is surely the most impractical big car ever made. It's like they designed every space to be inconveniently sized in some way.

Saw one, instantly wanted it. Two diffs with adjustable bias, carbon roof, manual trans, lightweight, rally developed. Very special indeed, someone there clearly still cares about enthusiasts. They developed and signed off on a 3 door body shell just for it. Kind of reminds me of the 1M, an engineer special. BMW should take note..

https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-...official/41624

Sadly they won't be bringing it to the US. Flinging one of these around a twisty road somewhere in the Alps would be mega.

I mean, there are so many f80 being sold that aren’t tracked, and with moon roof and people on forums are moaning about why there are not vented seats, so I think Bmw is just giving what the buying public wants, and that is not homologation special cars, unfortunately.

As for 1m, I was considering one and got a ride at a bmw cca event and the thing goes into limp mode. Lol. way to go n54

I like that little POS as well, however, just wait until you see pricing.

BMW continues to be lightweight compared against any of its competitors and still offers 6MT trannys. I don't have much to criticize after getting into 2:06 with RE71s at the Glen with stock suspension.

It's just crazy how much performance BMW baked into the F8X. First weekend with the car, RE71s on 255 front and 275 rear tires mounted on ZCP wheels.
It would definitely be faster with the appropriate 10.5 square 285/30 RE71.

The E9X is already a serious machine driven hard, the F8X is even faster.

We'll see about the G8X generation and whether they lose their way, but so far M continues to deliver!

Early feedback from TCKline (not the full on M trim obviously) is that the new chassis is worlds better than the F series. He told me he thought it was the best 3 series chassis BMW had ever made so I doubt they'll lose their way with the M!

I'm pretty sure they'll continue doing what they've done for so many years: build grocery getters than crush dedicated sports cars at the track on weekends

I wish I could drive at WGI which looks like a great one in forum members videos...with walls so close everywhere scary as hell. So instead of having to cross the country, I am enjoying that track in forza 7. lol

You switch tires back-and-forth with no change in alignment? -2.7 is not enough for NT01, guessing R1 wants even more neg camber

The Glen is a truly wonderful place.

I much prefer to go there than many other tracks that lack runoff in the main braking areas and have trees and sketchy barriers all over the place. I'm looking at you Jefferson, Summit Point, Tamworth, NYST, etc

I am presently running -2.5 in front and find it is too much. I will be dialling it down to -2.3.

Same for the rear. I am at -1.8 and will bring it down to -1.6.

That’s quite interesting. I know you run higher front tire pressure, how much do you think that affects camber?

Now I can see the runoff areas thoroughly put. Still way more walls than no walls and definitely these east coast tracks would require good skills and precision (or just more money lol) to drive fast there! (respect!) PNW tracks are in general generous with walls...because there's really nobody here??... with few scary places.

On the track I run -3.0 degrees whether it's an R1 or a RE71. I switch alignment at the track between street and track settings.

The R1 is not much stickier than a RE71, but it lasts a long time and can take abuse like it's nobody's business

A wall close to the track means going off means hitting the wall, however, I'm more concerned with tracks that have all this grass and then trees and whatnot. You're going to end up seesawing the steering and flipping the car.
I'd much rather to crash into a wall than flip the car

I was just in Oregon for the holidays doing a bucket list vacation of the Pacific Coast. Truly a beautiful state you got out there..but I think you need to put Watkins on your bucket list and cmon out here this year!

I think you need at least 1.8 or more in the rear and at least 2.7 in the front. If I wasn't lazy I would have 1. installed the adjusted toe links for -2.0 rear and 2. maxed out the TCKline camber plates for -3.0ish.

However, I will say at the setting I ran I got just about even wear upfront AFTER flipping once, meaning the inside and outside shoulders ended up nearly bald at the same time.
