Front splitter adjustment for daily driving

I would like to hear others experience with the front splitter being very low
I am experiencing scrapes on bottom of the carbon fiber and am considering removing for daily driving and adding back for track use
My concern is for continuing to damage it and whether this will be an issue when I eventually sell
Thoughts??

If the scrapes are on the bottom (where nobody can see them), why do you care?

I doubt the scrapes are affecting the structural integrity of the CF splitter nor will affect resale.

You can always buy a new one prior to resale too.

Street setting the front splitter is 3.5" off the ground and race setting its 3" off the ground. The front lip is of carbon fiber with Styrofoam on the inside. If you scrape it too much, you will worn out the carbon fiber and see the Styrofoam on the inside.

That's my GTS For the street it's best to retract the splitter completely to avoid damage. The splitter attracts rock chips, big time. Highly suggest wrapping the splitter with a heavy duty clear material, prior to installation. Since my COTA run, I have removed the spacers and the car sits 15mm lower. I avoid speed bumps (mostly in parking lots where I live) and steep driveways. Based on a friends experience, the further you extend the splitter, the more likely it is to break. New splitters are approx $1900.

For me, rock chips are patina

Each to their own, but to me its more importent to avoid stuctural damage to a car. Stone chip and scraped spoliers is nothing I care about. I have never ever put clearbra on a car. My front lip is scratced and will scratch again. Do this mean I dont take care of my cars in a god way? Hell no, I take care.

Less than 150 miles and just scraped it coming out of what I thought was an ok driveway. Took it to show the guys at the shop that works on my e36....
Getting her wrapped on thu but seems too late for the splitter. Building character, I guess...... at least it's only the underside.

I am seriously considering getting a RKP and keeping the original stored and clean

Have to keep the splitter all the way in for starters. However, even in the lowered track position, if you are careful and cut driveways and speed bumps at an angle, you can avoid scraping. I think the occasional scrape is inevitable and part of enjoying the car I'm afraid.

There's a photo of a GTS without aero kicking around in a thread on here. Think it was a white GTS? There are a pair of steel tabs that stick out underneath the base M4 front fascia, but it otherwise looks pretty clean.

Yes, TOO MUCH MONEY to replace just to keep the look for the street.
5-10 min to take off and 5-10 min back on. My choice, but I have damaged one and repaired it twice after 27k miles.

I got a rep from IND (Fall Line I believe). I like how it looks with the splitter and I went and got a quote for the upper carbon part and it was almost 4 grand. I'd rather destroy a 600 dollar rep than have to replace any oe parts.

I have taken off both. Bought the 2 pieces new and put on the repaired upper carbon and not the splitter.

I'm planning on sticking with the upper exposed carbon + Fall Line lower splitter for driving around town. Car is still at street height, and my work parking deck scrapes lightly on exit unless I creep at an angle.

You guys that have cracked the upper carbon, was it from hitting a curb? Or seriously bottoming out the lower splitter section? Would really suck to crack the carbon upper from repeated scraping exiting parking decks.
